The Lighting Story was early SPIN!
If your interested in the GRID and the real story about electrical power.
It is all online and it's a political HOT POTATO!
Electrical Power is Big Business!
CONSOL EDISON Div/Shr $2.24 = Nice! If you have 20,521 shares.
Underlying each of these issues are complex details which must be addressed. In addition, the pro and con arguments of a vast number of stakeholders with diverse interests have been heard and must be taken into account.
____________________________________________________________ Well, if you want the dirt it's all inside sections 1 thru 8.
4. The Federal Statutory Background of the Electric Power Industry
The Energy Policy Act of 1992 In 1992, President George Bush signed the Energy Policy Act (EPACT). The Act substantially reformed PUHCA and made it even easier for nonutility generators to enter the wholesale market for electricity by exempting them from PUHCA constraints. The law created a new category of power producers, called exempt wholesale generators (EWGs).
The law has been hailed by industry analysts as one of the most significant pieces of legislation in the history of the industry.
6. Federal Legislative Initiatives
"The Clinton Administration has been pressing Congress to reach consensus and enact comprehensive legislation without further delay"
Secretary Richardson stressed that "Congress must move ahead to make changes in the Federal statutory framework to provide the certainty that is needed to achieve reliable electric service in competitive wholesale and retail markets."(7)
8. The Role of the States in Promoting Competition
In 1999, Texas was the largest State to pass restructuring legislation. Governor George W. Bush signed Senate Bill 7 to introduce retail competition to Texas.(33) Retail choice will begin in 2002. The restructuring law freezes rates for 3 years or until 40 percent of a utility's customers have switched to an alternate provider, whichever comes first. __________________________________________________________
Some people get paranoid late at night and some people just clever;) Seriously though, we lost all of our computers at the office this afternoon (we are tied in to our Detroit office). At the same time I was hearing the news out of NYC and my first thought was how does this happen from a single event.
Are you boiling water? Do you have a permit for this?
where can I get one?
I just moved and have no Cable[refuse to deal with Comcrap..er.comcast) so I have nothing until I get Direct TV so I can't get any stations anyway(I'm need to borrow dad's old rabbit ears).
I bought mine from a little dude named Dr. Loveless.
I use to have a photographic memory but I ran out of film. ;)
The Statue of Liberty is lit but the New York City skyline behind it is mostly dark as seen from Bayonne, N.J., during a wide-spread power outage Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003. (AP Photo/Mike Derer)
Damn, still going on huh?
"a good long time"???
If they stayed online and fried the generators it would take MONTHS/YEARS to replace them.
You'd let the grid destroy your facility? I'm glad you're not running any power plant I depend on...
Actually, it was surprising how well traffic flowed without the lights. Traffic was moving quite well, in fact.
