Here is the photo that dominates the home page of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. This is not a parody. You can click the link and see for yourself. Notice the 2 flags behind the Capitol. Which country are we living in here, and where lie the loyalties of our leaders?

Yeah, nevermind that Israel is just about the only country that fully supports the USA's war on terrorism.

Calm down. It's an image that goes with the story belo-- his speech on Israeli-American relations. Once the story is old, a new image will be there.

As an American, think loyalties should be pro-America. Don't think DeLay should be doing this. And I'm pro-Israel too.

Sorry, but I think your mischaracterizing the photo. It is not the banner photo FOR the website, it is rather a photo that is part of a featured article ON the website' with the headline:

"Victory In War On Terror Depends On Israel's Survival; President's Leadership & Clarity Make Peace In Mid-East Possible"

Political websites often have news features, and this is an appropriate photo to go with this story, IMHO.

The flag is there because he just spoke to the Knesset. This picture changes all the time and I know because he is my Congressman and I read his site. That said he is a strong supporter of Israel though he is a Southern Baptist.

You have either over reacted or are trying to cause a problem where there is none.

Victory In War On Terror Depends On Israel's Survival; President's Leadership & Clarity Make Peace In Mid-East Possible

JERUSALEM – House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) at the Knesset today said victory in the war on terror depends on Israel's survival.  After President George W. Bush met with Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, DeLay said the president's leadership and clarity make peace in the Middle East possible.

DeLay also met with Palestinian Authority Finance Minister Salam Fayyad as part of his week long trip to the Middle East, where he is advocating U.S.-Israel solidarity.

“We know our victory in the war on terror depends on Israel's survival.  We know Israel's survival depends on the willingness of free nations, especially our own, to stand by all endangered democracies in their time of need,” DeLay said.

“We hear your voice cry out in the desert, and we will never leave your side.  Freedom and terrorism cannot coexist.”

DeLay addressed some of his remarks toward the Palestinian people.

“If the Palestinian people rise up from terror and embrace the universal hopes of freedom and democracy, the United States and the rest of the world will be there to help them,” DeLay said.  “If you provide the hope, we will provide the help.”

DeLay also expressed continued support for President Bush.

“I look forward to sharing my experiences with President Bush, whose leadership and clarity make peace in the Middle East possible and victory in the war on terror inevitable,” DeLay said.

In June, DeLay sponsored a resolution condemning the terrorism inflicted on Israel since the Aqaba summit and expressing solidarity with the Israeli people.  The resolution also called on the Palestinian Authority to take immediate and effective steps to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure on the West Bank and in Gaza.

DeLay has increasingly taken a leadership role in foreign affairs through his work to expand freedom and his articulation of democratic principles.  He was a forceful advocate of President Bush's decision to confront Saddam Hussein's aggression and received the Friend of Israel award this April from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.

<sarcasm>

An obvious ZOG conspiracy!!

If you take the trouble to actually look at his website you'd see that the picture with the two flags is followed by an article entitled:

Victory In War On Terror Depends On Israel's
Survival; President's Leadership & Clarity Make
Peace In Mid-East Possible

Mr. DeLay enjoy's just as much freedom of expression as the rest of us. The flag goes with the article linked on that page, "Victory In War On Terror Depends On Israel's Survival; President's Leadership & Clarity Make Peace In Mid-East Possible". Untie the knot in your undies, will ya?

Check the URL: this is a dot-gov website. It's not Delay's personal website, it's the government website of the Majority Leader. Isn't he third in line to the presidency, if my memory serves correctly? And he's flying the flag of a foreign country?

Check the URL: this is a dot-gov site. This site belongs to the Majority Leader, not to Tom DeLay personally. This represents official US government endorsement of a foreign power.

Minimize Max. The Speaker of the House is second in line, The Pro-Tem (President Pro Tempore) of the Senate is third, Thereafter it goes by seniority in the House

You posted that image completely without reference to the context in which it is used on DeLay's page.

He is about the only real Conservative with any power in this country and I thank God for him being there.

What's your real issue here?

Taking images or articles out of context violates protocol here but since I won't snitch, I'll just wait for someone else to point it out to the AM.

Do you think posting our flag alongside Britain's in this war on terror (or for that matter WWII) was conflicted loyalty too?

Nope, DeLay like most decent men knows wrong when he sees it and acts on it unabashedly. Israel represents civilization fighting the barbarians who wish to destroy all of us ultimately and he knows this for what it is.....reality.

The Speaker of the House is second in line, The Pro-Tem (President Pro Tempore) of the Senate is third...

I knew I should have checked that before posting.

Well yes. I would be quite displeased to see a similar photo with the US flag superimposed next to a British flag. Our political leaders should have loyalty to one country, the United States.

Your memory is bad. Speaker of the House is third, President pro-tem of the Senate is fourth, then the Cabinet starting with State and going through the list in the order they were created.

Better check into the Alzheimer's Wing, Delay is not in the line of Presidential Succession as majority leader. Hastert as Speaker is #3.
