But shouldn't Mary be played by a woman?

#74: Mel's life's experiences are a study in an understanding of forgiveness and of redemption and -- lest we forget -- of guts under envy-motivated and Hollywood-hatred-engined, luny-left-wing "liberal" fire.
Mel's Passion will stand for centuries as the masterpiece of celebration of the Prince of Peace's Life.
So, I am going with the Michelangelo of Motion Pictures line.
Although, given time, who knows?
Maybe the medieval marble modifier will be known as the Mel Gibson of ceiling painters?
HehHehHeh .........

Gibson, however, belongs to a conservative Catholic group that rejects the modern papacy and Vatican II, including its overtures to non-Catholics and Jews. Where did they get this crap?

This is the" soft" picture that we get from most Catholic art, and not post-V2.

Karen,
I would be skeptical about claims that he's changing, or softening the movie.
I still think no matter what he does, there are going to be those that are sharpening their knives, waiting to cut up the movie.
He must know that as well...
How are you?

..it's just a movie...Not for me.
Not for Mel, not for FR's Christians.
You're on the outside, looking in, amigo. Just for once, try not to have a strong opinion, on something you cannot vaguely comprehend? Cheers, By

..I'm not going to watch the movie, now...I'm still going, amigo. Just disappointed, that Gibson has let himself down, in this way. Regards, By

Not for Mel, not for FR's Christians. I'm a Christian, too, pal, and, to me, it's still just a movie.
Hardly something to get exercised over it, especially since none of us have seen it.

Bri, Foxman and the ADL are on a win-win. They alienate Christians by, basically, calling the Bible anti-semitic, and inferring that Gibson (or at least, his father) is a closet Nazi. The payoff comes when in a few months the ADL discovers 'increased anti-Jewish commentary' amongst the citizenry, and thereby justifies its own existence. Cheers, By

"The emphasis should be more on what killed Jesus, not who killed him," said Rudin, also a columnist for Religion News Service.
You know, sort of like emphasizing the bullet or the gun from which it was shot rather than the criminal who pulls the trigger.

Yep.
[Dis]Honest Abe's ADL serves no interests than its own and most of my Jewish friends say of him and it [And of other professional and opportunist Jews: Dirshowitz, Larry Tribe, Chuck Schumer et al] that they could do no more harm to Jewish interests than had they set out with that objective.
SCRATCHES HEAD ...
But didn't you just say that?

So it's no longer to be Biblically accurate?
No, son. There were a whole lot of Jews who were opposed to the crucifixion of Jesus, just not a whole lot of Jews who were in any position to do anything about it.

Look, let's not start an argument. I'm just amazed that this huge star is making a money-no-object account of Christ's life, and you can't even get excited. Sheesh. Cheers, By

Abe Foxman is single-handedly responsible for most anti-Semitism in this country....but then, that's what his job is....to keep the anti-Semitism UP and ACTIVE by being obnoxious to Christians.
