California Governor Gray Davis has apparently taken the political advice of ex-President Bill Clinton to heart - so much so that he's begun to mimic Clinton's lip-biting catch phrase, "I feel your pain" in a desperate bid to survive October's recall vote.
"I feel people's pain because I know this is a tougher economy nationally, not just in California, than when I first came into office in 1999," Davis told a sympathetic Bill Maher on Friday for an interview on HBO's "Real Time."
The Clintonized California Democrat has been consulting the ex-president for months, though it's not known if Clinton actually advised him to use the same slogan that helped him survive the Gennifer Flowers and draft-dodging scandals in 1992.
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has, however, publicly compared Davis recall backers to the "vast right wing conspiracy" that succeeding in getting her husband impeached, an historic first for an elected U.S. president.
In an interview on Monday, Gov. Davis' wife Sharon made it clear she was counting on the former first couple to save her husband from political disaster.
"We look forward to having Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in California because they have been through this Republican attack," she told the Los Angeles Times. "They have experienced it firsthand."

He doesn't come across as even remotely charming. He's gonna lose and all his phony Clinton accent will do is just make the margin of his defeat bigger. People get turned off fast to someone who's desperate to be liked.

He thinks being a pretend Bubba will pull in more votes for him in California. Davis is delusional...

We are witnessing the long overdue destruction of the "democrat/socialist/marxist" party.....
At all levels of their party structure -- are clymers and failures....
It is becoming impossible for them to mask that fact..

He CAUSED people's pain.

They have. But Davis feels he can snatch victory from the jaws of defeat by what else? - pulling off a Clinton.

He can try and pull off a Clinton, but the problem is that Gray has the personality of a wet sock. He'll just look even more desperate :)
