Wishful thinking or is it CA dreaming on the part of Art-viscious-Torres?
The polls indicate up to a third of REGISTERED democrats are planning to vote to recall Gumby and to vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Buchanan and Press had McClintock on today. Buchanan was asking if he and Simon had talked and urged them to work out a deal - "Simon has had his turn, should quit to give full conservative vote to McClintock," said Patman.
IMHO, both are too far right to work with the current state legislature. Let Ahnold take the fall and Simon and McClint can duke it out in the US Senate primary for Boxer's seat.

All of this is music to ears of Califoirnia Democrats, who have put their political eggs in the basket of Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante. "This bodes very well for Cruz," said state Democratic Party Chairman Art Torres. "The more conservatives in the race to split up the vote, the better."
How about this on election day?
Bustamante = 38%
Arnold = 37%
McClintock = 10%
Simon = 5%
All others = 10%
It will be argued that my percentages are wrong. That MISSES the point, which is the presence of three Republicans on voting day adds risk, that the entire effort could be for nothing. I have no problem with Simon and McClintock staying in for awhile. Simon is apparently seeking the Guiness record, for who lost the governor race, twice in the same year.

Conservatives Say McClintock is Their Man!
California Republican Assembly gives overwhelming support to Senator McClintock over last year's pick
Burbank Senator Tom McClintock on Sunday received the endorsement of the California Republican Assembly (CRA) for his candidacy for governor in the October 7 recall election.
The CRA is the oldest and largest Republican grassroots organization that played a key role in last years come from behind victory in the Republican primary. The endorsement was at a special endorsement vote of the California membership during the convention National Republican Assemblies held this past weekend at the Burbank Hilton.
"The California Republican Assembly has consistently been in the trenches working to bring Californias bureaucracies back under control, and roll back the regulations and taxes that are choking our economy," said Senator McClintock. "The endorsement of the CRA provides a great boost to my campaign. The grassroots will be instrumental in getting out the vote in the upcoming election."
Senator McClintock has spent 20 years in the public policy arena fighting for fiscal reform. Last fall he received more cross-over Democratic votes, more independent votes and more total votes than any other Republican on the ballot. He also received 103,000 more votes in his run for Controller in November 2002 than the Republican top of the ticket.
Senator McClintocks campaign for Governor will focus on rescinding the tripling of the car tax, voiding the $42 billion in outrageously overpriced electricity contracts and reforming the workers compensation system.

I fear the "morons" in California will follow in their own footsteps and elect Arnold. They're simple sheep and follow the simple information the media gives them. It's clear that the media has picked Arnold. Even the outlets that are "challenging" him refuse to seriously discuss any other candidates. It's a ploy.

I just do not get it...support for Arnold in early AUGUST means exactly what in early OCTOBER???
Until further notice, Tom is the man!!!
We will see where we all stand (hopefully a united front) in OCTOBER!!!
Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Simon, a Pacific Palisades investor and businessman, made his political debut last year as the 2002 Republican gubernatorial candidate. He lost to Davis by about 5 percentage points. McClintock, a state Senator from Simi Valley, has served two stints totaling 19 years in the Legislature and twice ran unsuccessfully as the Republican candidate for state controller, in 1994 and 2002.
Great, a one-time loser during a Republican tsunami year against the most unpopular governor EVER and a two-time loser who is also almost unknown after almost 20 years enshrined in state government. That sure ought to excite the electorate. (/sarcasm)
