Send Gray Davis to France to fix the electricity problems like he did here in California.

100 degrees? Am I the only one who thinks that is NOT too high? I mean, I live in West Texas - we hit 105 the other day! So what? No great National Emergency.
If ya work outside, move slower, drink plenty of fluids - if ya work inside - no problemo!
What a bunch of babies.

And a reminder: the French don't use much deodorant. Things are probably pretty rank in Le Metro.

The Italian Meteorological Society said the city of Turin hit 107 degrees Monday hotter than any day over the 250 years that temperatures have been recorded there.Mind you, that's where the 2006 Winter Olympics are going to be held...[g]
Just damn.
If you want on the new list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

One French medical expert said at least 100 Parisians have died of heat-related illnesses a claim that if proven would quadruple the number of deaths blamed on the heat wave.........The heat has hovered at around 100 degrees in many countries for days. In some places, it broke records.
I'm glad Texans are a heartier breed, otherwise there be no one left down here after the last few weeks we've had!

all I want to know is, 15 years from now, when the weather has turned markedly chilly after the solar cycle reverses, can we then skin the global-warming eco-weenies?

Poor Froggies. They're feeling the heat both from the U.S. and the heat.

We can use them for coats, since fur is outlawed.

A few things to remember:
Air conditioning in private residences is rare in Europe, as are fans.
If a temperature breaks an all-time record for a location, chances are good that the people there are not accustomed to that temperature, no matter how high or low that new record might be.

Perhaps the heat is why the European nations didn't want to join the coalition effort to send troops to the Middle East.

You'd think it was California, with the government begging us not to use major appliances when it's hot (as if I'm not going to run my AC when it's 106 outside).

Keep in mind that air conditioning is not nearly as widespread in Europe as it is in North America. That includes many better quality hotels in major cities.
