Once I heard someone describe Condi Rice as a black candidate with a Y chromosome -- the perfect conservative candidate. I liked Condi, still do -- but have to admit that the above description has a lot to do with it.

JC Watts has the other chromosome, but conservatives pay more attention to him because he is black, than they would to any other OK congressman, or ex-congressman.

I also like the fact that he is a Xian.

But there is this -- I heard several Watts interviews, and he simply is not ready for top-spots yet. As one among 435 {House of Reps} he may be ok, but he's not ready to be a senator, and certainly not for VP or higher.

Why not? He seems more solid than a lot of Republicans out there. He certainly seemed more solid than Trent Lott.
