MICHAEL MEDVED ANSWERS "BUT HE'S NOT A CONSERVATIVE" CRIES AGAINST SCHWARZENEGGER NOW!
Michael Medved Show KRLA 870am

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:10:46 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl

Michael is making the case on his show this hour that Schwarzenegger is good for California and our non-existent Republican party. He's bringing in the many "disenfranchised" voters.

Do you agree? Before answering, ask yourself: "Do I live in California?"

He's urging Simon to drop out of the race and asking why anyone would vote for him. I like Simon, I've met him a few times, he's a nice guy, I supported him in the last election, but he has no chance unless Schwarzenegger drops out.

I can't stand to listen to that snobbish little "My family is better than yours because I don't own a TV" twerp. I was ever so glad when Rush stopped having medved sub for him.

This is a great quote from David Horowitz. I think it describes the California situation.

"Even if a Republican candidate like Tom McClintock or Bill Simon could win the plurality to become governor, which they can't, their administration would be a disaster -- for them, for Republicans and for their conservative cause. If conservatives want to make California a conservative state they need to lay a lot more groundwork for that to be possible."

I hope that you're not one of those "outside agitators" that I've been hearing about. ;-)

but he has no chance unless Schwarzenegger drops out.

This was exactly what everyone was saying about Riordan in the fall of 2001.

Liberal Arnold will drop out all right. He'll start dropping like a rock in the next few weeks as liberals and conservatives all find reasons to roundly dislike him.

Oh stop it. Medved doesn't say he's better than other conservatives. And you shouldn't have a t.v. if you have kids. ;)

I can't comment if I don't live in CA, huh?

I suppose we Zonies don't have any interest in the fact that CA is becoming the largest source of human pollution we get here.

Yep, conservatives get elected when the voters are conservative and they elect a conservative to represent their views. Anyone who'd suggest California's voters (as a group) are conservative are on crack. Californians are moderate-to-liberal, so moderates-to-liberals get elected.

"Do you agree? Before answering, ask yourself: "Do I live in California?"

You have as much right to be concerned about who is elected Governor of Virginia as I do. Whomever sits in that office effects appointments, United States representation in the House and Senate, support for federal judge nominees, etc. conversely, and for the same reasons, everyone else in this nation have an interest in California. It is disproportionally represented in the congress, it's economy could drag the entire nation down if it failed, it has been solidly in the hands of the democrats for entirely too long.

Having said that; Go Arnold Go!

He's making the valid and obvious points that Arnold is likeable, that people are registering to vote or planning to vote just because of him, that he's bringing a positive light to the GOP in CA which has been floundering for a long while now, and because he personally has always considered himself a Republican and not been afraid to call himself that in CA.

Like I said, I really like Simon, but he's got a few things against him: he's considered a loser because he lost the last election, he's a real conservative and that's very scary to most of the nuts in this state, and he's not one of the most famous people in the world.

A great many of the problems we now have are caused by people who insist that "political experience" (i.e. professional politician) should be a large part of what makes a good candidate.

No matter how you slice it, Davis is so far left that ANYONE more than a half inch right of center appears ultra conservative.

Will Arnold be good for California or not as bad as Davis is the real question. From what little I know about his politics, I tend to believe that he will be good for Calif. finacnially but won't be as bad as Davis socially.

Do I have to live in Ca to understand that Arnold is asupporter of most all the social policies and family values true conservatives are against.

Michael Medved thinks Prop 187 was a bad idea and drivers licenses for illegal aliens is a good idea. I don't care what he thinks about this election.

I didn't say you didn't have a RIGHT to comment if you don't live in CA. But I think a lot of people have the knee-jerk reaction to trash non-conservatives on principle, and it's easier to have that principle when your job or your business is not immediately at stake, as is the case with MANY of us in CA, for real.
