The truly astonishing thing about this has nothing to do with Arnold. It is that nearly 70% of the voting electorate is polling to remove a sitting Dem governor in California who just two years ago was widely acclaimed by the media as the Dem's presidential front-runner. The citizens of the People's Republic of California have only themselves to blame for electing such a detestable man as Governor. The Left's reflexive embrace of Davis is no different htan their relexive embrace of Clinton. He's a winner! He's a Dem! So we love him! But Davis lacks Clinton's charm and ability to blame others with style. The sharks are turning on their wounded colleague. It is sick but fun to watch from the safety of the Midwest.

Cause the dems and their cohorts live in a fantasy world where America is destroyed by it's enemies, from without and within.

America is under assault from internal and external opponents.

Anyone who thinks we can win this war overnight is part of the problem. It didn't happen overnight and it's not going to get better for a long long time.

Every chance we give the people a little bit of control over their lives, is a tiny step in the right direction.

The recall is an important message. Substituting a dem is diluting that step.

It doesn't make any sense, 31% would vote to keep Davis and most of those would vote to elect someone other than Bustamonte? If true then it will be Governor Arnold.

Have felt from the beginning that Arnold was relatively unbeatable.

And that even us reluctant conservative supporters would do better to get behind him and have influence with him than to be combative with him. A futile pissing contest wouldn't help anyone.

I'm waiting to see how this all translates into a "Califorrnia can elect a Simon or McClintock' analysis.

28% would vote for a person that they have no idea what his platform or positions are? An informed electorate? Why even Pete Wilson has no idea whether Aunold if or will balance the budget and/or how. Aunolds co-chair, Wilson doesn't know what Aunold stands for. Kevin Phillips endorsed Tom McClintock tonight on Scarborough Country! 90% of the registered voters are expected to vote October 7. DUMP DAVIS! VOTE 4 MCCLINTOCK or face the consequences! http://www.tommcclintock.com

Correction: I meant to say Howard Phillips endorsed McClintock tonight not Kevin Phillips.

It is rather soon for everyone to get all excited and say it is in the bag or there is no way, etc.

A lot of Arnoold's support is name recognition , no doubt about it!!

Two questions,
1. Did the poll include Richard Riardan to water down Anold's numbers? He isn't running so.....

2. If Red Davis would resign before the election, would the recall election continue? Or would Bustamante take the Helm until the next regular election? Or would the Recall continue with Bustamante filling in until the Recall election?

I loved Ann Colter's remark this morning on Fox. Hey Gray was elected without telling the voters how he would get rid of the deficit, so why would you think Anold would b expected to come up with the answers.

This poll was conducted last Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Riordan threw his support to Arnold, IIRC, on Friday, so on at least on Thursday, Riordan could have been considered a candidate. The point is moot now since Riordan has thrown his support to Arnold, and IMO, it is probably a good bet that 95% of that 11% that stated Riordan as choice would now go to Arnold.

2. If Red Davis would resign before the election, would the recall election continue? Or would Bustamante take the Helm until the next regular election? Or would the Recall continue with Bustamante filling in until the Recall election?

From what I've read, the recall since it was certified still goes on, no matter if Davis resigns.

The media seems to have a hard time focusing on the simple fact brought out by this statement.

Gray Davis lied and used his office to deceive the people of California about the deficit and had he not done so, Bill Simon would now be governor.

I heard a few people, Jesse Ventura among them, stating that the recall was innapropriate because Davis had not committed a crime. Lying and using his office to deceive is clearly malfeasance and thus the recall is 100% justified.

The law may NOT be as straightforward as many here seem to think.
