Took them 14 days to get all the power back on. Glad this wasn't a terrorist attack or they'd still be off.

Thanks Mama_Bear. Yes, I'm reinstalling everything still. I have thankfully learned my lesson a while ago...and I have an external zip drive that holds all my pertinent info.

I'm currently 'still' reinstalling now.

I do know for a FACT that it was that specific newssite I referenced from the chain of events that happened. AND from my email client. I killed all the email ques offline. So NO ONE in my address book got that worm.

Anyway, the good news is, it seems the Admin Mods took my warning seriously. I sent them a freep mail from kinkos. And in between reinstalls, I've searched extensive for that FR post from Friday night. I CAN'T find it. I'm assuming that means it was taken down. And I want to hug whoever did. I can't imagine how many freepers would have been wiped out from that site!

I hope my assumption is correct. Cause I know things don't always come up readily in a search.

FINALLY. Some news about this. Never use links with an alien site that might be controlled by the Chinese. Only visit using heavy-duty firewalls and mail-watch programs. ESPECIALLY on national security topics. This was possibly a Chinese 'sting' to zap any Cyber-Americans attempting to research and communicate the risks of losing our key defense technology industries to them.

Why didn't the Admin Moderators just say so? No reason to yank the thread, just blot out the link to the site. End of risk. They should also alert the FBI to a likely cyber-attack by the PLA's special tactics unit.

Which virus was this btw. Although likely unrelated, I had a nasty one wipe out one of my systems two weeks ago.
