There are more Democrats in California than there are Republicans because the state is not conservative any more. If you want to govern California you must compromise to some extent. If you don't compromise with the moderate/liberal Republicans (that means neither wing gets everything it wants), the Democrats will continue to govern California.

Simon had his chance and lost. Arnold is way ahead of McClintock in the latest polls and if that lead continues the Republicans who are in the race should unite around Arnold as the one Republican to oppose the Democrat(s).

Whatever happens, no Republican should run ads against any other Republican. We need one major R candidate during the final 2-3 weeks.

Its fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Thats why Arnold owns the middle and he is way ahead in the polls. Super name recognition and his views match well with the middle.

Simon had his chance and lost.

Actually the final vote was much closer then the polls were predicting and he almost surprised a lot of people. And Davis had to run numerous TV ads every night just to pull out a squeaker. If it was not for the Dimwits being able to temporarily blame Davis's power screwups on Enron, Simon may have won.
