Immigrant persona -- good.
Ignorant persona -- not good.
I am just baffled over why so many people can think that being rich and famous qualifies this RINO to be the CEO for a large state.

Agree with the main point of the article.
After Prop 187 killed the Republican Party in CA by labeling it anti-hispanic, the party needs to move forward in a way that wins them back. Electing a conservative anti-immigrant politician is not going gain points with the fastest growing large voting block in the US.

I listened to Schwarzenegger say, "The childrens are being kept from the books." American children are no more deprived of books than they are of Happy Meals or Krispy Kremes. Does The Arnold think he's running for Governor of North Korea? It just shows how being a multi-millionaire and married to the Kennedy-clan can make you out of touch with reality.
What American children are being deprived of is a national future. We must do something about illegal immigration. As I see it, there are ninety million Mexicans and they all want to come here. I can't see them waiting ten or even five more years while the politicians of California wave driver's licenses and in-state college tuitions as enticements. How is *anyone* going to balance the budget with ninety million illegals on welfare?

""If an immigrant American can govern California successfully as a Republican, that has the potential for changing the perception of the Republican Party in that state significantly," the Republican adviser said. "
Diversity bump.

Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's chief political strategist, has been pulling the Republican levers to make it clear that the party is behind Mr. Schwarzenegger. The Progressive Republican Pro Abortion Anti Gun Pro Sodomite Pro Social Programs Pro Tax Pro Big Government Pro Deficit Anti Freedom

Well if immigrants like Schwarzenegger, based on the article, then they'll love Ariana Huffington.

Rinos need love and acceptance too.

"Ever since Proposition 187 [which denied nonemergency assistance to illegal immigrants] and Republican Governor Pete Wilson, Democrats have been in the ascendency here, and Republicans have been perceived as anti-immigrant and exclusive," said the party adviser on the condition of anonymity. Typical uninformed rubbish.
As it turns out, Ahnold was in favor of 187.
Oops.

I think the notion that having Republican governors in both New York and California will help President Bush is little more than wishful thinking. I'd be stunned if he won either state.
