Arnold Schwarzenegger Would Get 25% of the Vote If Californians Voted Today

Arnold Schwarzenegger Would Get 25% of the Vote If Californians Voted Today

California voters would remove Governor Gray Davis from office and replace him with Arnold Schwarzenegger by a 19 percentage-point margin if the election were held today, according to a TIME/CNN Poll.

Schwarzenegger leads Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamanate, his closest competitor, by a 25%-to-15% margin. Trailing were State Sen. Tom McClintock (9%), former candidate for governor Bill Simon (7%) and (tied with 4%) Hustler publisher Larry Flynt, columnist Arianna Huffington, and former Major League Baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth, U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein beat Schwarzenegger to replace Davis, 22 percent to 20 percent, if she had been a candidate, according to to TIME/CNN survey.

But California voters are not convinced that the Austrian-born action hero is capable of governing the state: 45% think he is, but many (55%) think he isn't capable (39%) or are unsure (16%). Schwarzenegger is not perceived as falling into any ideological camp: more see him as "moderate" (40%) than either conservative (23%) or "liberal" (19%).

The TIME/CNN Poll, conducted Aug. 8, surveyed 508 registered California voters by telephone. The margin of error is +/- 4.3%.

Nice. Hopefully DiFi won't jump in at the last moment!

You don't know what you're talking about.

Sadly, I do know what I'm talking about.

I know Arnold,

Oh? Through what means? Personally? Or through watching his movies? Please clarify.

and I know that his passionate patriotism and love of America puts him in the company of the best of the GOP.

Then why is he anti-Second Amendment, pro-social spending, pro-gay adoption and all those other very non-GOP things?

Arnold is a successful, self-made businessman (are you?), and believes deeply in the American dream.

Yes, I am successful. Yes, I am a self-made (and self-taught) businessman...and I too believe deeply in the American Dream; and that includes supporting our Constitutional rights.

Sadly, Arnold's public statements regarding our Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms does not indicate that he supports our rights in whole or in part.

Only a fool would disparage the opportunity for Arnold to serve the Republicans as Governor of California.

Only a fool would support a candidate who has put forth absolutely NO plan or platform; just platitudes.

Celebrity status may wow the voters, but it won't do squat when the rubber hits the road.

Despite your words, you're not saying anything at all.

Only to those who place personalities ahead of principles.

Simon should have stayed out but we definitely need a back up conservative candidate in the contest. He happens to be Tom McClintock.

Sadly enough he is a back-up. He is the most appropriate candidate for the position in California and in MHO is willing to give his all to put them back on track.

After Jesse the body's tenure here in Minnesota, we finally have a Governor that means business and it is very obvious with the vast changes going on here and the "scrambling" being done through desparation by the "suck the wealth from the people" pro-government liberals! Even so, I would be very pleased to see Tom McClintock change his residency from California to Minnesota, for his firm agenda and aggressivness would do wonders here also!

I'm disappointed in the people that think we should let our state go down the tubes to prove how bankrupt the dems' policies and visions are.

If it will stop Berkeley and Hollywood from smugly telling us that their way is what made California great and that "their way" should be imposed on the rest of the country.....then I can't really summon up a tear.

The fact is that California is in the shape its in because of these bankrupt policies. California is serving as a living example of where the Berkeley Highway actually leads. Bad for California, but a good object lesson for everybody else.

Any vote for McClintock of Simon is a VOTE FOR BUSTAMENTE.

And any vote for Schwarzenegger is a vote for Davis Lite.

Why bother having a recall to install a Davis clone?

Exactly.

I like your optimism.

Is that said with sarcasm or are you serious?

I certainly was serious with my post!

What does that leave for an option if one votes for a Democrat? Suicide, for voting for a Republican, whether they are a RINO or not HAS to be better than a Democrat!

So all you'd need in this recall is for Gray Davis to switch parties and get an (R) by his name?

So if suicide is an option against a RINO, what is the option against a Democrat like Gray-out?

How about sticking to principles and voting for a real conservative instead of a RINO celebrity?

Simon is yesterday's news... He should bow out and endorse McClintock. That'll put him at 16%, for now.

Agreed. Simon should drop out.

As an aside, Simon's last run (which was horribly bungled from the start) pretty much lays to rest the claim by many a RINO-supporter that a conservative cannot be elected to the governor's office. Simon did everything but step on his d--- in public and he still came very close to unseating Davis.

Bottom line: Don't waste the recall on a RINO.

not definitely, but possibly. We would have an unsurmountable lead if supporters of the other two candidates would support Arnold.

I got news for every one.........ROE Will never get over turned...........

Not as long as the so-called *PRINCIPLED* Freepers keep electing *RINOs* like Schwarzenegger, who will sit idly by while *MILLIONS* of *INNOCENT BABIES* are *SLAUGHTERED*!

I will *NEVER* compromise my *PRINCIPLES* for the sake of electing a *RINO*! That's *JUST AS BAD* as a Democrat, in some cases *WORSE*, because the Republican *LEGISLATURE* won't question a *TAX* and *SPEND* RINO!

I always listen to what Rush has to say but on this one I think he is wrong. (Morris? he's wrong a lot but he's humorous)

If I lived in California and could vote for Arnold S. I would. I am behind him 100%. If I am wrong so be it but if I'm not.... Look out! He's gonna kick some you know what!

Furthermore, Arnold is against partial birth abortion. He is also against strict gun control. No, he is not conservative, but he is not Hillary.

He even supports putting a cap on budget spending that was removed in 1990.

Right now my allegiance lies with McClinktock, but when polling day arrives, if he is still at 9% or so, and Bustamante is close to Arnold, I may switch my vote (maybe).

And you're willing to make this noble sacrifice living in what state, Arkansas?

I have to live here although the wife and I are seriously considering moving to a more family, Republican and naturally, 2nd amendment friendly state.
