Air Force Drops Rape Charges Vs. OfficerASSOCIATED PRESS
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) - The Air Force said it has dropped charges against an officer accused of raping an Air Force Academy cadet last year.
Second Lt. Ronen Segal was accused of attacking the cadet at his Colorado Springs home on Aug. 25 after a night of drinking.
The charges were dropped after the investigating officer said the woman was capable of giving or withholding consent and "did not in any way object to or resist" sex, the Air Force said Thursday, according to The Gazette of Colorado Springs.
Segal, a 2002 Air Force Academy graduate assigned to the North American Aerospace Command, was the second man associated with the academy to be charged with rape since February, when dozens of female cadets began coming forward to say they had been attacked.
Segal had faced charges of rape, forcible sodomy and dereliction of duty by providing alcohol to a minor.
The investigating officer, Army Col. William Sells Jr., recommended dropping the charges, and Segal's commanding officer, Brig. Gen. Duane Deal of the 21st Space Wing, accepted the recommendation.
Segal said in a statement he was relieved that the charges were dropped.
The woman who accused Segal of rape could not be reached for comment.

I've looked and cannot find in codified law saying where cadets or midshipmen fit in the U.S. military rank structure. I've found all the other known ranks under USC Title 10 but no cigars.

I agree - because women have to start being responsible for their own safety - you don't go drinking alone with a guy. The feminists want people to believe that women can do any kind of behavior and a man is REQUIRED to respect her and not take advantage of her. That's not very realistic.

I was an active duty Warrant Officer and Apache Pilot, and I am still one in the National Guard. All Warrant Officers are OFFICERS period. As WO1s they are Officers by warrant from the secretary of their respective branch. CW2 and above they are Officers by virtue of a commission from the POTUS. They can hold command, and do in the Army in certain cases. They can also sit on courts martial when in a command position. Congress mandates that all military pilots be Officers. The vast majority of the Army's pilots are Warrant Officers. Even though the system is long overdue to change to a Limitied Duty Flight Officer-Commissioned system, like every other branch did.
Warrant Officers outrank the most senior enlisted ranks, ROTC, OCS, and Academy Cadets every time, every where, every day. And, anybody who tries to tell you anything to the contrary is dead wrong.

Why can't they just date civilians? Why hit on other military? Because a hard on will take you places you wouldn't go with two 45's, especially when you're 18-22 years old.

I believe that she is already out, but I'm not sure. She is out of the academy, at any rate.
I saw an interview with her on tv and my impression was that this woman had no case to begin with, the whole thing was a travesty. She and her roommate arranged to have this guy procure alcohol for them and then the girl invited the guy to her room and asked the roommate to sleep elsewhere so he could spend the night. Then she claimed that he got her drunk and took advantage of her. Sounds like a set-up.
