I think they are trying to get him to resign, and are desperately trying to come up with an inducement. Of course, Davis has to realize that the Clintons never keep their word, so he is probably refusing.

Not that Arnold has shown himself, who can beat him??

That means Morris is back in the DemocRAT camp because I heard that was in their talking point papers. Everytime I hear someone talk like that I just say RAT! No qualifications/no intelligence!
Where did Hillary get her experience before running for US Senate? Or Sharpton running for Pres? Guess that is different -- they are RATS!
I wouldn't trust Morris to tell me anything!

No. Even if Davis resigns, the recall is on, and Davis successor would only serve until a replacement was chosen. Well that's a relief, even though I'd expect the 'Rats to file lawsuits to mangle the law in their favor. What a fiasco!

Tom Feeney from Fla. is on O'Reilly. We need congressmen like him here in Calif.

Not too many pols like the recall, though. Smacks too much of accountability. I think you'll find a lot of Pubbies aren't too thrilled with this development, either. All I can say is TOUGH. They're lucky we use a ballot box.

McClintock is local to Freepers. They always want the most conservative guy that cannot win in CA! The D.C. panel is right! You know what we really want? We want something done about the invasion of illegals and the balkanization of our Golden State. We voted over 60% yes on prop 187 only to have commrade Davis shop it to his black robed buddies and refuse to appeal it to a higher court.
We're 40 billion short largely because we house, clothe, feed, medicalize and entertain people who have broken our laws to set up a third world here and steal our way of life from us, our very birthright.
We're tired of the powers that be ignoring the problem. We're bankrupt because of it. And if they won't listen to the people as in 187, then we should work to see them voted out of office.

I did hear the name Leon Panetta this morning, too. He might file & run. He'd kinda have to be nuts, in the face of all this having happened without him.

I think this is a definite. The Dems are probably in the process of finding a way to 'mangle' the law as we speak.
850 posts and no press conference yet?

Well, Dog posted it thinking it would be when MSNBC said. It has been moved back 3 times, and we are all afraid we're going to miss something.
I have to stay here now. My husband has switched to a John Wayne movie.

This has to be a new record for a "LIVE" thread. 800+ posts and the news conference hasn't even started :o)

This the message that is ricocheting around the nation right now, what you just posted:
All I can say is TOUGH. They're lucky we use a ballot box.
If Herr Davis and his maggots try to stay in power after we recall him, the Boston Tea Party will look like high tea at a grand hotel in London.

From the
Associated PressPelosi changes view on having Democratic replacement for DavisBy DAVID ESPO
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON
In a reversal, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California has concluded the party needs a candidate in the Oct. 7 recall election aimed at Gov. Gray Davis, party sources said Thursday.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Democratic House leader has joined in a series of conference calls in recent days with fellow Democratic lawmakers as and other officials seeking a consensus candidate.
Pelosi issued a statement Thursday calling actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to enter the race as a Republican an extension of House Majority Leader Tom Delay's "extreme Republican agenda ... using a familiar public face to promote poisonous policies that favor special interests over the public interest.
At the same time, her statement was silent on the issue of having a Democrat on the ballot. "The (Democratic congressional) delegation will continue our discussions about the best way to defeat the recall. We will determine our course of action after the filing deadline has passed," she said.
That was a shift from a statement issued on July 24, when Pelosi said, "In order to defeat the recall, it is essential that no other Democratic name be on the ballot." Her shift further underscores Davis' precarious position in an accelerating recall race.
As Schwarzenegger was announcing his candidacy so was Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante. Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein announced earlier Wednesday she would not place her name on the ballot.
Other Democrats have been saying for days that the party needs a candidate in the election, in part to bring out voters who can defeat the recall, and in part to prevent the governorship from falling to the Republicans if Davis loses.
The Democratic party sources said another possible candidate whose name has come up in conference calls among California Democratic lawmakers is Leon Panetta, a former congressman who lives in the Monterey area. Panetta was a White House budget director and chief of staff under former President Bill Clinton.
