This subject actually got some serious news coverage in 2000. It's the DRONING. His intonation, especially combined with his body language, make him come off as, well, what he IS: A guy who thinks - no, KNOWS - he has all the answers to all the world's problems, and is completely (and continuously) exasperated that he can't get all us proles to understand "The Truth." Plus he has more than a touch of the pucker-faced schoolmarm that we all hated in elementary school.

I'm not sure which by itself is worse, the lisping Tennessee accent or the pace and tone that so clearly convey his utter contempt for the intelligence of his audience (coming from a divinity school flunk-out yet). In combination it's painful to listen to.
