The Russian made MiG-25 Foxbat recovered by U.S. Army troops in the pictures,
is an advanced reconnaissance version never before seen in the west and
is equipped with sophisticated electronics warfare devices. The author used "Russian" and "sophisticated" in the same sentence?

I know Russian fighter's engines are supposedly less susceptible to foreign object damage (fod), but this is a bit much!

I've heard the combination used once before - slightly different context.
"Although sophisticated listening devices were available, the Russian government was able to secure phone sex tapes of President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky with standard surveillance equipment. Many great guffaws were shared over a glass of chilled vodka."

Interesting story here. In the mid 1980's the US military scoffed at the Soviet's use of miniturazed vacuum tubes in their equipment until someone pointed out that vacuum tubes are immune from an electromagnetic pulse.

The author used "Russian" and "sophisticated" in the same sentence? Click here for the latest in Russian Technology. They (Sovtek) make the most sophistocated vacuum tubes in the world.
Seriously, for guitar amplifiers, 1950's technology just can't be beat. I'v even heard of sophisticated guitar effects units in which a state-of-the-art DSP chip resides next to a 12AX7.

Sure, why not. I understand this MiG has the ability to carry on conversations about existentialism, recite poetry by famous 19th century Russian poets, play Chess, brood, and smoke cigarettes.

People, don't believe the garbage in this report. The MiG-25 was a 1960's design, and except for its powerful radar, is technologically on a rough par with our old Phantom jets. Heck, it doesn't even use a turbofan engine. The Russians designed the MiG-31 about 20 years ago because the MiG-25 was already obsolete then. It DOES have Mach-3 capability (for very short bursts), but if pushed to that speed, needs a change of engines when it lands. This is much ado about nothing.
