The water can be very scary to someone who hasn't had any experience with it.
I remember being hostess to a teenager from the midwest who had never seen the ocean before when I lived in FL. She actually got a case of vertigo when she went to the beach. The "hugeness" was overwhelming! LOL!!

Yep, I overcame my swimming 'fears' at a VERY young age.
I think I could swim better than I could walk at the time, lol !
