BILL Clinton has become the master strategist in California Gov. Gray Davis' campaign to prevent his recall on Oct. 7. "Clinton has been out there a couple of times and is micro-managing the whole deal every day by phone," said a political insider. "If Davis survives, he'll owe it to the Clintons. Then if Hillary jumps into the presidential race, she'll have the California delegates locked up as well as New York's." Sen. Clinton is definitely running, according to Carl Limbacher, author of the best-selling "Hillary's Scheme: Inside the Next Clinton's Agenda to Take the White House" (Crown). Limbacher says the money she's raising for her re-election to the Senate will be turned over to the Democratic National Committee, which will then spend it on her presidential race.

Does that mean, then, that if we successfully recall Davis that he also owes his FAILURE to the clintons? And that hitlery WON"T have the CA delegates locked up for her inevitable run for POTUS? What then? All this speculations seems to be assuming that Master Strategist Bill is going to pull one out of his sleeve. He hasn't mastered any campaign, as far as i know, since his impeachment (hitlery's doesn't count).

So if Davis will get recalled, that will be a slap in the face for the Clintons. That should motivate Republicans to turn out!

  Ehhhhxcellent.
</Mr. Burns>

This is just what we need to completely and utterly undermine the Clintoon power base: a stunning ejection of Joe Davis from the governor's office in spite of (or because of) their unwanted involvement!

This recall just keeps getting better by the minute, I tell ya...

Master strategist? It is to laugh. The Pantload is just a slick snake oil salesman with a cadre of shady enforcers.

I would love to see Davis recalled, but I would also love to see the groundswell of disgust, if he squeaks by, register itself at the polls against him and for Bush in 2004.

Subject: Recall Gray Davis Committee Update

August 5, 2003

It’s been a crazy few days, my friends!

A series of lawsuits have been filed in every court you can imagine –
state and federal. One lawsuit by the NAACP (National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People) claims that the Recall Gray Davis
effort will disenfranchise minority voters who won’t know where to vote
on Election Day or would have further to travel because of consolidated
precincts.

MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund) is suing because
the racial privacy initiative will be placed on the same ballot (as was
dictated by the state’s law when it qualified for the ballot… that it
would appear on the next statewide ballot, and this recall is the first
such ballot since it qualified).

Here’s the news story about both of these developments:

http://www.dailycal.org/article.asp?id=12314

None other than Governor Gray Davis himself filed the most egregious
lawsuit yesterday.

Davis is claiming that it is unfair that he should not be allowed to be
a candidate to replace himself if the recall effort receives a majority
of votes on election day.

You read that correctly! Gray Davis says that even if a majority of
voters opt to remove him from office (and the latest polls show the
recall is ahead by 15-20%) Davis says that he should be allowed
a ‘second chance’ by being on the ballot a second time as a candidate
to replace himself:

As I’ve been writing to you about, my legal team has been battling the
despicable tactics of the Democrats and so far we’ve been very
successful. It was our lawyers who won the lawsuit that forced the
Democrat Secretary of State to certify the recall election question
for the ballot back on July 23rd.

I am not sure how much longer we can fight off these legal and political
challenges without immediate help. We should be collecting funds for
our upcoming “YES on RECALL” advertising campaign, but Gray Davis and
his allies keep filing lawsuit after lawsuit in an attempt to have the
entire recall measure thrown off the ballot.

Our legal bills have been climbing by the tens of thousands of dollars
each month, but we can’t give up now. Over 2,000,000 Californians have
signed recall petitions and we will do everything we can to protect the
integrity of the People’s Recall.

My friends, you have supported our efforts every step of the way and
paid the legal fees for our first two legal battles (with Secretary of
State Kevin Shelley and Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante).

I am coming to you one more time to ask for help.

Can you please rush a financial contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250,
$500, $1,000 or more right away? Remember, there are no limits on the
amount an individual or corporation can contribute in this recall
election and we need all the help we can get.

Just click the link below to contribute:

Contributions may also be sent to:

And for those of you in northern California... on Saturday, August 9,
2003, we will be having a protest against taxpayer funding of the
anti-recall campaign. The anti-recall factions will be gathering
at The Sheraton Hotel in Sacramento (1230 J Street at the intersection
of 12th and J in downtown Sacramento). The protest begins at 8:30 AM.

As you will recall the University of California Institute for Labor and
Employment has been involved in organizing these events despite the fact
that the institute is a taxpayer funded entity. In this year's budget
the UC ILE received $4,000,000 in taxpayer funds. We really need you
to join us with "NO TAXPAYER FUNDING TO FIGHT RECALL" and similar
signs at the protest!

Finally, as I promised, we have begun uploading pictures from the
historic “YES on RECALL” rally that took place on July 26, 2003 at
the State Capitol.

In my next email I will have information on how you can order a
videotape of the rally made by a film crew that was in attendance
as well as “RECALL YES” and “VIVA RECALL” t-shirts and other gear.

In the meantime, enjoy the pictures of the rally located on our website:
