National Clergy Council Reacts to Episcopal Vote and Alabama Ten Commandments Order

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The National Clergy Council, representing church leaders from Catholic, Evangelical, Orthodox and Protestant traditions, issued statements on two major developments of today:

"The National Clergy Council is deeply disappointed with a decision by the Episcopal Church to proceed with a vote on the elevation of an 'openly gay' priest to the office of Bishop. Homosexual behavior is clearly contrary to Scripture and historic Christian morality. The Council calls on all people of conscience within the Episcopal Church to reject this offense to the Gospel and Christian integrity and to act accordingly."

On the federal order to remove the Ten Commandments from the Alabama Judicial Building: "The Council is deeply distressed over Judge Thompson's order and supports the right of all citizens to respond as their consciences dictate, including by peaceful, prayerful, non-violent civil disobedience."

Apparently, regarding the gay bishop, one of those involved in the decision said he "wasn't going by scripture, but by reason". Why then is that person a member of the clergy?
I'm trying to find the source for that quote.

Liberals have captured the Episcopalian Church. It will never be seen by people in the same light again.

While there may be isolated Episcopal churches that still revere and subscribe to Biblical truths, there are many that have become little more than humanistic hot beds. Sadly,that sect has been on a downhill slide for a lot of years. So maybe it is appropriate that it should become the official "church" of queers, socialists and other misfits.
