Very interesting. I prefer the multi-colored 5 circle design. And what is up with the "worship dance people"? LOL Expect superlatives, though. Largest this, tallest that (in history!!!!!!) ;)

Today the Hollywood Resistance force attending a live taping of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. His guest this evening was Hillary! Rodham Clinton, ministrix of evil.
Bob and I arrived at NBC at 2pm. Rondog and other operatives had arrived very early in the morning to get tickets. We had about six people inside the taping, various sympathizers and Rondog worked the crowd out doors.
After waiting in line for about an hour with the devil pumping up the crowd, we were escorted inside the studio...

Very interesting. I prefer the multi-colored 5 circle design. Me too. Besides, I have a (red) "Beijing 2008" cap with the 5-circle design on it -- and now it's out of date...?

I looked at it sideways. Very obviously a Chinese calligraphy version of the swastika, hah.

Expect superlatives, though. Largest this, tallest that (in history!!!!!!) ;) You can bank on that. P.R.China is planning to shine bigtime in these Olympics.
I spent a week in Beijing 2-1/2 years ago and was amazed at the amount of construction going on there in preparation. Highrises going up everywhere.
As a guest of the Ministry of Construction I got the figures for the current 5 Year Plan; the amount of construction going on is simply unbelievable. Several years ago my industry was observing the retrofit of a million-square-foot federal building in San Francisco, but in the Chinese plan they're building the equivalent of 38,000 such buildings each year.

I was going to say something a bit stronger, but decided against it. Let's see if I can clean up that thought some...
The 2008 Beijing Olympics; if it were any HOTTER, you'd be in the 9th plane of Hell.

My L-rd. They don't even TRY to hide the demonic imagery any more. It's amazing. It's funny enough to make one laugh out loud, but it is in fact not funny at all and is deadly serious.

"Words escape me right now. I am utterly shocked. Doesn't Beijing vet their symbolism with people who are aware of other cultures? DUH ! DOH !"
Probably not, but we don't either. Remember the Chevy Nova? When marketed in Spanish-speaking countries, it was a bust. why? "No va" in Spanish means "It doesn't go."
That's just one of many, many stories about everyone's stupidity when it comes to cross-cultural stuff.
Remember the Datsun Fair Lady? It was their introductory two seater convertible sports car. Fair Lady? Not a great name for a market that is aimed at men, I'd think. It was a bust, too. When they created the 240Z, though, its successor, they had more success.

Not so. The correct translation is "Krintons in '04"...

There has to be a betting site somewhere offering odds that the Olympics gets pulled out of Red CHina..I'd say it's about 5:1
