SIERRA VISTA -- The president of American Border Patrol was released from jail Sunday after being arrested Saturday morning on three counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon, a count of endangerment and a count of criminal damage.
Glenn Spencer, 66, was released from county jail on his own recognizance Sunday morning after an initial court appearance, said Carol Capas, a spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.
"I should have been released Saturday, but the judge never showed up," Spencer said today.
The arrest stemmed from an incident Friday night in which two gunshots were heard near Spencer's home near Equestrian Avenue and Yaqui Street.
The shots, which came at about 9:30 p.m., were heard by an off-duty sheriff's deputy and ...... More of this story

Why?
What's the excerpted piece about?
Are you getting kickbacks for hits on this link from Sierra Vista Herald?

To answer your questions
Why? It is an ongoing news story and not all of the Freepers interested in the ABP that live in the County get the local paper. Plus, there were numerous hits on an earlier posting by Spiff on 8/3/03 when the arrest took place from non-county residents.
What's the excerpted piece about? Click the link I provided or the URL at the top right of the page under the title if the link I provided is not working.
Are you getting kickbacks for hits on this link from Sierra Vista Herald? NO. I'm doing this solely for informational and discussion purposes of things that I think are of interest to AZ Freepers and may be of interest to Freepers at large.
I hope that answers all your questions satisfactorily.
Sincerly

It had been reported that he and members had received death threats
One story reported on FR, a while back, was that at least one affirmative action member of the Fed Border Patrol were not to happy with him and his fellow members
The illegals and their patrons on this side would love to discredit him and the ABP
as the legal authorties seem a bit remiss in inforcing the laws...
Probably just the way the illegals like it...

No it didn't -- my questions were rhetorical. [And just a bit sarcastic] Sorry they went over your head.
FR works, in large part, because very busy people are able to access massive volumes of information very easily, all in one place.
When you do unecessary excerpts you deny the otherwise interested folk who would have read the piece that your excerpting has denied them -- even interested and immigration-activist folks like me -- access to the piece you have excerpted, you alienate us -- and you lose us as supporters.
A word from the wise, therefore: Unless you are posting material sourced FRom the Washington Post and/or the LA Slimes [Which most of US wouldn't read to escape the gallows!] -- and/or want to shut off FRom it about half of your post's potential readers -- don't do excerpts.

Shots fired? Well that goes on about every night in North St. Louis City.

Glad I live in Texas. If any cops are listening they would not hear less than 50 shots on any given day. When I crack open a box of .44's I like to use 'em while they're fresh. Add the ol' lady's 38+P and a few from my 45LC derringer and it would probably give an ATF agent a woody (or make him want to start a BBQ).

Thanks for posting this. I'm glad Glenn Spencer has been released. He shouldn't have been arrested in the first place.
I can't understand these pro-illegal alien posters. They must enjoy the invasion, with their local schools being overloaded and their taxes raised while they pay for medical care and everything else for the invaders. They must enjoy seeing their towns turn into colonias where little English is spoken. They must enjoy watching while their neighbors lose their jobs to slave labor salary illegal aliens. Either they enjoy it, or maybe they're making big bucks by employing illegal alien laborers, or maybe they're illegal aliens themselves and want all their relatives here.
American citizens/taxpayers have had enough of it, and respect men like Glenn Spencer who are trying to do something to stop it. The President won't, that's for sure. He's too busy pandering for the hispanic vote.

Shots fired? Well that goes on about every night in North St. Louis City. Also every night all along the Mexican border --- people around here seem to like to go out at night and just shoot up into the air ---- there's never any problem at all ---- but maybe it's only okay if it's illegals doing the shooting?
