Pull in the 'Net
Jewish World Review ^ | 4 aug 03 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 08/04/2003 6:44:39 AM PDT by white trash redneck

Anything goes on the Internet these days, and the feds are clueless about controlling the raging high-tech crime wave and egregious privacy violations of every kind. Was anyone surprised when Web thugs revealed the name of the 19-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Kobe Bryant? Was anyone surprised that one Web site even printed bogus topless pictures of the young woman?

The FBI says $455 million was reported stolen through computer scams in 2001.

The U.S. Internet fraud complaint center received documentation that $18 million was lost to fraudulent Net commerce in 2001.

Because right now on the Net you can say anything you want about anybody, true or not. You can lie, cheat, steal, corrupt children, sell drugs, take bets, and send pornography and other offensive material. You can sell fake autographs and antiques. You can threaten people.

Excuse me, but what does ANY of that have to do with the Net?

Sounds like a page from Klinton's weekend diary, no computers involved.

Must be a slow day for Bill.

He is no conservative, but he never claimed to be. For all of his pontificating on his TV/Radio shows and in his books, he really hasn't a very coherent political philosophy. He seems to hit all over the place.

The 'net is driving liberals, progressives, and other totalitarians nuts because of its relatively free and unregulated nature.

What does O'Reilly claim to be? You're right - he has no coherent political ideology, aside from an overweening respect for authority.

Here are my thoughts on the subject.

While I am a big fan of Bill O'Reilly and agree with some of what he does and says I must storngly and respectfully disagree with him on this one.

What Mr. O'Reilly needs to understand is that a lot of people here on message boards like this one are in one, two or all three of the following catogories.

(1)They are elderly.
(2)They live by themselves
(3)they are on fixed income and/or have medicial problems, if fact some of the people who participate in message boards like this are bedridden.

Their fear of making certain people, namely Democrats, liberal, progressives or moderates angry and getting hit with civil liability suits are the reason why they go on message boards like this so they can remain anonoymous and be able to address issues of public importance.

In case it hasn't occured to anyone, Democrats, liberals, progressives and moderates are so hypersensitive about what's being said about them that they consider anything that is negative towards them as dafamatory. They are so eager to missuse and abuse the legal system to drive people like you and I to bankruptcy through frivilous lawsuits. They would like to see our identities revealed so they can use our legal for these malicious and enormously harmful means.

This should not be something that you or I would want and so it is for this reason that I must respectfully but strongly disagree with Mr. O'Reilly on this issue. He needs to rethink on this issue if he expects to win back the respect of some of his listeners and viewers.
Regards.:-D

I think I'm increasingly becoming a liberterian regarding the net.

I believe virtually any limits on it would be worse than what the limits were ostensibly to correct.

Freedom is a fragile thing.

And incredibly priceless.

YES!

THE CONTROL FREEKS AND TYRANNISTS ARE LOSING SLEEP MASSIVELY.

Maybe they will lose so much sleep they'll go crazy and slaughter one another.

One can dream.
