"Experts from FOI [Swedish Defence Research Agency] accompanied the Monte Carlo based production company World Television Network, when they were doing a report in Iraq with a team fronted by the Swedish journalist Wera Maria Cedrell. Wera Maria Cedrell claims that she has evidence proving that Saddam's regime produced weapons of mass destructions as late as the last year. "This is the "smoking gun" the U.S. is looking for," she says

We've had so many false alarms, this one needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt. But wouldn't it be wonderful?

I wonder if we will see any of the Leftist "mainstream" networks or NYT or Washington Post etc. mention this or the Kelly story about Saddam's "dirty bomb. But, they hopefully will be shamed into "admitting it" by Rush, Fox, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved, Scarborough, Liddy, RF, Newsmax, WND, and the rest of the "Alternative Press". Don't look to ABC, CBS, or CNN for confirmation of this one! NBC might be softening on this though. Perhaps Brockaw CAN read the trends, and see the truth as it is unvealed.

Mercy! Get a spell checker, noodlehead! RF should be FR, or "Free Republic" ... obviously.

Yeah, and as I noted on the other thread
here, this one has the involvement of investigative reporter Nate Thayer.
He's the only one to have interviewed Pol Pot after 1979, and actually was the only reporter to be present at Pol Pot's show trial in 1998. An incredibly courageous and tenacious individual.
I'd trust this story to Thayer, no questions asked.

It would actually kinda be nice if somebody found WMD evidence independent from our military. That way, nobody can assert that we planted something for propaganda purposes.

Anyone else want to join in and email this story to the rest of the talking heads?Let's just wait and see. If there's something to it, we'll know and there will be plenty of time to extract a few pounds of flesh from the Dems. If there isn't, then it's not worth any excitement.

Potential Upside: Bush was right!
Potential Downside: We were beaten to the punch by Swedes.

BECAUSE of the ever increasing stream of WMD-found stories starting to surface, I can only surmise there indeed have been WMD found and the media is looking to dilute the effect of a mass barrage of info at once.

Again, as a former spook, I have my doubts about this one. First, it seems unlikely that the U.S. would simply let a team go rummaging around Iraq, conducting its own independent search for WMD. Iraq is now (essentially) a protectorate, run by Mr. Bremer and the DOD, and we control who comes in the country. While I can envision David Kay inviting Swedish experts to join the search--with (possibly) a TV crew in tow--the idea the Swedes found this on their own, apart from the U.S. effort, seems a bit hard to believe.
Here's hoping I'm wrong. I would like nothing better than to see the Democrats and their fellow nay-sayers proven wrong...

Could be Bremer's guys are not looking for blue eyed blond guys wearing American uniforms.
This was a secret operation conducted by Swedish intelligence agents. No doubt they "blended in" as best they could, eh?!

I wouldn't discount the fact that we let the Swedes 'find' the evidence to lend it more credibility. Not that I think that needs to be done, but the 'hate America first-ers' would roll their eyes in contempt at a US find.
