Jesse Jackson was at the Urban League -- President Bush spoke to the Urban League -- if Pres Bush had ignored Jackson the amount of ranting would have been unfathonable to me by Jackson and his minions.
Can see the headlines now -- Bush refuses to meet with Jesse Jackson and it would have been all over the news.
Fifteen minutes is nothing! Anyone that gets upset at that doesn't have a clue about politics. You pick your battles and ignoring Jesse Jackson when he was at the same venue would have been stupid and not a battle that needed fought!

Okay - 15 mins is nothing! I can see your point! Besides, it isn't like the president invited Jackson to the WH or to the ranch.

Yes, and we can thank the lamestream media for that.
I would have preferred if President Bush vehemently denounced this criminal though.

Look who else attended: Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, a Maryland Democrat and the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Cummings last month refused to meet with Bush about the Africa trip. He was complaining that CBC's requests for meetings with GWB had gone unanswered for over two years.

"What this president has done is to sideline the far-left NAACP, which is still suffering from the reign of terror of Julian Bond, in favor of the more moderate National Urban League and others," Martin said. "Fifteen minutes of the president's time with Jackson in the context of national politics is nothing. If you want to get this president re-elected, you take away the temper-tantrum toys from the likes of Jesse Jackson."
I agree with you, Kevin.

After Bush's speech to the Urban League, Democratic presidential contender Harold Dean addressed the group and mocked the president's outreach effort. Harold Dean? :-) I like Harold better than Howard.
If his name were Harold Dean we could call him Geraldine. Can't you just see Howie in a wig and dress doing his little hysterical thing?
Sorry, sometimes my mind wanders. :-)

So, in other words, make an enemy of the President and he will see you; but support him and he will ignore you.
Its just like our foriegn policy. If you're poor and irrelevent just make an enemy of us, we'll attack briefly, then spend 50-100 BILLION rebuilding your country.
Talk about an upside down world.

Bush didn't have to ignore Jackson, but a private meeting? He just gave Jackson more relevance, just as he was starting to be relegated to second-tier race-baiter.

"Can see the headlines now -- Bush refuses to meet with Jesse Jackson and it would have been all over the news."Yes -- at that would have been good "news"! Is there any reason for the President of United States to meet with a known extortionist and race-baiter extraordinaire??
Instead the only message now sent is spelled P-A-N-D-E-R.

the people that got upset at Bush for meeting with Jesse probably don't care, it is for public consumption, much like Daschle is so "disappointed" all of the time. Actually really is, but it's because Bush is generally doing so well.
