Sorry, Kevin, I disagree. Bush just put Jackson back on the map by giving him relevance. The "bridge builder" went to far this time for my liking.

Bush didn't have to ignore Jackson, but a private meeting? He just gave Jackson more relevance, just as he was starting to be relegated to second-tier race-baiter.

Would it matter to you what President Bush said to Jesse Jackson?

and it is always nice to meet the enemy (Jesse who is the Chief Plantation Pimp) for a little chat.
I would have asked Jesse which corporation is his next shakedown target if he gave me any clinton.
IMO GWB is a whole lot smarter than even many Freepers give him credit for.

Would it matter to you what President Bush said to Jesse Jackson?Correct. You can say things in a face to face meeting that you would never put in writing.

The meeting was private, as you said. Did Bush publically endorse Jackson? No. Chalk this up to Rove and Bush getting a closer look at the enemy while defusing potential charges of ignoring the "black community."

Jesse no doubt tripped Bush and then kept him from falling.
Jesse, Bill Clinton religious advisor, adulterer, con artist, tax cheat, fabricator of history, pick pocket of cringing wimpy Wall Streeters, hasn't fooled "W" - don't worry.

I may give President Bush the benefit of the doubt more often than I should - I don't really know - but without seeing a transcript of this meeting, I wouldn't leap to conclude that Jackson was the alpha dog in the room. People could save themselves a lot of angst if they would consider little things like, oh...the fact that they have no idea what was said.

Whats the big deal? Jackson can't walk around now saying Bush wouldn't meet with him.
Bush probably was looking for a little comic relief.
I doubt he could even understand what Jackson was saying to him, Jackson is as incomprehensible as Ozzy Osbourne..

Bush met with Abbas (a Terrorist).

"Can see the headlines now -- Bush refuses to meet with Jesse Jackson and it would have been all over the news."Yes -- at that would have been good "news"! Is there any reason for the President of United States to meet with a known extortionist and race-baiter extraordinaire??
Instead the only message now sent is spelled P-A-N-D-E-R.

I have no affection for Jesse Jackson, but I think it's completely unreasonable to assume that President Bush offered him anything, or acquiesced to anything - unless, of course, hatred of President Bush so clouds a person's judgment that they simply cannot see any other alternative.

There's obviously a foolishness, a naive nature to the Bushes. In the meantime, hang with all the libs they want to, but this is to do with our nation and to have Bush pandering to people who are clearly hostile towards this nation and making a fool out of him just shows how easy it is for these people to gain acceptance. There's no excuse for Rove to pander to these blatant racists, hate-filled scum. No reason for Bush to accept this, but yet another example of incredible lack of judgment from the Bush administration.

"[I] think it's completely unreasonable to assume that President Bush offered him anything, or acquiesced to anything -- unless, of course, hatred of President Bush so clouds a person's judgment that they simply cannot see any other alternative."No, nothing to see here. Dubya Bush and Jesse (let's-make-a-deal-or-else) Jackson aren't negotiating anything at all (wink-wink). Just two good friends catching up.
I'll just move along and assume any meetings with Vicente Fox haven't been about "relaxing the border" either.

Let me see if I understand this, the President met with Jettison, who was Clintoooon's special ambassador to Africa, who aided the rise of Charles Taylor, and they somehow enhanced the diamond trade from S. Leone?
Does the President believe he can meet with a hustler like Jettison as an isolated incident?
To: F16Fighter
The meeting was fifteen minutes long, and it involved another person.
Even if your premise (that big deals are going on between President Bush and Jesse Jackson) were supported by some kind of evidence, which they are not - isn't that a little bit short for something of such sinister significance?

Some people look for anything to bash President Bush at every turn. Fifteen minutes with another person present does not add up to much of anything. Not to mention not meeting with him would have led to a lot of Bush bashing by the media -- we have enough of that already!
