Why liberals have fallen from grace

A group of frustrated liberals, apparently brimming with bitterness over their conked-out efforts to convince the American people that their way is best, have stooped to a new low of propaganda and disinformation that should anger every American.
It's in the form of a study that seeks to link highly respected American conservatives like former President Ronald Reagan and radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh to the values of Adolf Hitler.
All of it would be amusing if it weren't for the academic credibility this insular group is trying to attach to its absurd thinking.
"Political Conservatism as Motivated Social Cognition," a study of 50 years of conservative thought that was published recently in the journal Psychological Bulletin, is something I consider a crackpot analysis of the psychology of conservatism.
The deep thinkers who authored the study concluded that the connection between Hitler, Reagan and Limbaugh is that they all "preached a return to an idealized past and condoned inequality in some form."
The researchers - two from the University of California at Berkeley, one from Stanford and one from Maryland - concluded that conservatives may have different agendas, but they all resist change and, compared to liberals, are more tolerant of inequality.
That's truly an amazing conclusion from these learned men when one considers that it is liberals who create the greatest political blocks to the transformations that would bring academic freedom to ghetto schools via a competitive system of vouchers and an end to crippling institutions such as affirmative action.
These are the same liberals who are dedicated to hampering the expansion of poor people, minorities in particular, from moving beyond the barriers of the inner city to reap the benefits of the American dream.
Why? To keep their mindless liberal voting bloc intact.
According to the study, as it was recounted by cnsnews.com, "'common psychological factors linked to political conservatism' include fear and aggression; dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity; uncertainty avoidance; need for cognitive closure; and terror management." All of which are used, the researchers suggest, to maintain the status quo.
Fear and aggression to maintain the status quo? Has anyone listened to Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton lately?
Overt racism once kept black Americans hobbled in some of the most deprived urban ghettos.
Today some of the biggest advocates for the liberal political status quo, like Jackson and Sharpton, have replaced the barriers that formerly kept blacks in their social and economic place with accusations that they have "sold out" or are trying to be white and other nonsense.
Since the election of President George W. Bush, liberals and their liberal politicians from the Washington, D.C., Beltway to the economically busted halls of the statehouse in Sacramento, Calif., have been befuddled and in deep denial about why they have fallen from grace with the American people. The answer is simple.
Liberals are awash in a sea of failed social policies. Now, in a truly desperate propaganda move, they hope to discredit today's mainstream conservatism by equating it with the ideals of Nazism.
The reasons liberals have fallen from grace are too numerous to mention. But I am certain that trying to equate Ronald Reagan conservatism to Hitler will not make liberals any more popular at the polls.

The major concern I have for the long term is that the libs have taken over the universities and I don't know of any success at dislodging them. I think its a real long term problem for the good of the USA.

Where have all the liberals gone
Long time passing
Where have all the liberals gone
A long ago
Where have all the liberals gone
They've gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn

And if this study fails in it's desired effect, I bet the next Berzerkly study will be "Conservatives: Proof They Dine on the Brains of Infant Children".

Don't worry about the long-term. There is a rising tide against established liberal professors that will make the pendulum swing the other way.
It just takes time and our continued vigilence.

"...preached a return to an idealized past and condoned inequality in some form."
Nobody preaches for a return to the past where people had to work 16 hours just to survive. We preach for a return to limited gov't that does not keep breaking us up into micro-minorities and then establishing programs to keep those groups hooked.
Conservatives preach low taxes, limited gov't, and the desire that all people in this country become Americans, not hyphenated, not specialized, just plain Americans.

I think its a real long term problem for the good of the USA. 30+ years ago (60's) when I was in college, I had professors touting the merits of communism. This is not a new problem - how do you think Hillary turned from a Goldwater Girl into a Socialist by the time she graduated from Yale?

And now we find out that this "study" was financed by our tax dollars. These guys got a federal grant of over a million dollars to write this trash.

Hamblin often has some good points but he also supports more government taxes for items "he" likes. That inconsistency has made him a bit more suspect in recent years. Hamblin, sadly, will take a position before understanding all the effects of what he proposes. If he wants to pay for something, fine, but I would prefer he leave my money alone.

I think its a real long term problem for the good of the USA. The solution is a simple lesson in supply and demand: Stop sending students. No students, no school. No school, no liberal professors.

Liberals are nothing more than socialists. Today they use the catch phrase of "progressive" to escape being called liberal. The International Socialist Progressive Party has an offshoot group called the Democratic Socialist Progressive with members, on the Demorat side, in our own Congress. We must stop calling them Liberals and start calling them socialists, just like Hitler was.

this is too funny...!!! At all the rally's, its the liberal side that has cops in riot gear surrounding them, but I guess WE are the violent ones?
Yeah, Liberals are very inclusive... of everyone except someone who is conservative.
Isn't that a form of bigotry? An unwillingness to accept us for who we are?

Absolutely, and it's an issue that lib'rals can be taken to task for since they are the one's praying at the Tolerance Altar, not conservatives.
As a side note, I may have to be tolerant of other's religion, political persuasion, etc., but I don't have to accept it. There is a big difference between tolerance and acceptance--lib'rals demand acceptance of their viewpoints, not tolerance.

You under estimate them. This is not starting in college. It is much mower than that with gay pride days, diversity studies, library books concerning the gay lifestyle, erasing of generic religious studies, and the use of unions to start these kids down the assembly line as socialists in the primary grades of K-8. This started about the time of Lyndan Johnson's new world society in the mid-sixties. My mother was a teacher and saw it come in. She complained about it for 25 years until she retired, saying "We are not here to teach the children how to live, we are here to teach the children how to make their life better with the tools to make their own call." When I was young, I guess I was one of those teens that thought Mom and Dad were stupid. I was wrong.

Amen! Rush is even referring to the left as Socialists more often than not - at last!

This list need to be up-dated however, these are all Democrats and they are in the Congress!!! Some names missing from the Senate are obvious and the Clintons would never have their names displayed tho they exemplify the DSA. All these people swore to protect the Constitution of the United States......nothing could be further from the truth! They LIED.

Pot. Kettle. Black.
How many times do you hear liberals evoke names like John F Kennedy or FDR?
They are preaching a return to the idealized past.
It's not a technique unique to either side.
As for tolerence of inequality, I don't think that's much of an issue in contemporary America. Or, to put it another way, every time the left listens to Barbra Streisand, they are admitting to this very sin.

I downloaded the study...
This dehumanizing the enemy tactic coming from the left is disturbing. They're using their authority as Doctors to create propaganda. I'm embarassed to be a psych major...
