The million dollar stuff isin't as upsetting to me as the idiot I observed friday while eating lunch in a tavern. Payday, and he was flush with cash. He handed a 100 dollars to the barkeep and asked him to put 50 on the Powerball and 50 on the State Lottery. He was dead sober.

I'll have to support this guy with my tax money when he can no longer work and there isin't a damned thing I can do about it. While the fat-cat, cigar smoking, bastards behind all of this laugh all the way to the bank.

I am not a Puritan, and never thought much about gambling. But standing in line in convenience stores over the years has filled me with disgust and contempt towards it. Decrepit cars filled with the stubs of losing tickets, (when they are not simply thrown out the window, more often than not), two women buying tickets with pounds and pounds of pitiful rolled coins, story after story, year after year....And if that is not bad enough, the Casino Spams!

Then I see the ads on TV for the casinos, and am baffled how anyone could consider that a good time- I would rather have a root canal during an IRS audit than set foot in one.

"Gambling is a tax on people who do not understand statistics".

To me at least, it appears to be a stupid, pointless, and futile activity.

One funny aspect to it, though, was a Black friend telling me that "A car floor covered with losing lottery tickets is a White Trash Alert".
