Luis, it's a simple concept. It's a concept you still can't grasp. Unable to grasp it you simply declare victory and take a lap. I can live with that.

There are several wars gong on righht now, some more conventional than others.
The nature of warfare has changed, and in today;s world, money is a weapon.
Who is your candidate?

Sure Ron, a real simple concept.
"...when one is eventually lofted for us...", you will support him (that's what you said), then you said that "lofted for us..." means that you will do the lifting.
Yeah, we all get it Ron...
Like when Bill didn't have sex with Monica, but she had sex with him.
BTW...who is "us"?

Grow up Luis. Go back and read my response again if you still don't get it.
To: DoughtyOne
I get it Ron, you're trying to spin your way out of an embarrasing goof-up.
I get it, as do most people on the thread, you will sit until someone presents you with a candidate worthy of your support.

Here you go. I can lead an ass to water, but I can't make him drink.

The first term includes four budgets but Bush has not yet issued his fourth budget. The 2001 fiscal year was Clinton's last budget.

Bush is such a moron-- instead of giving the DOE their walking papers, he hikes their budget intake by 70 percent. That's just plain stupid.
To: Luis Gonzalez
Not one solution (other than electing a Democrat for president), and not one viable candidate thus far to be seen.
Anyone of them is viable, if it mean's divided gubermint. That's the only way to stop this, short of electing a true Conservative to the WH. Got one? Blackbird.

My point has been made for anyone that matters. You will now discover just how effortless ignoring you can be...
I hit the ignore button on that piece of work many moons ago, glad to see you finally got your fill of it! His ilk aren't worth the effort, shill's to the bitter end. Keep doing the good fight, the bulk of us see your points clearly! Blackbird.

Why fall into this obvious trap. Does anyone claim to know private discussions between GWB and his leaders in the House and Senate? Just because he proposes to endorse big spending legislation doesn't mean its not rhetoric meant to "steal" democrat votes in the hope of re-election and a larger gap in Republican margins in Congress. Why else do you have House leadership dragging the legislation, adapting it so that even if it were passed it would be far from what the Dems would want. I think the CLUE is that you don't have the Republican leadership in Congress publicly questioning the President. During a 2nd term with no pandering or perception of pandering needed GWB will be free to exact a more Conservative agenda. Things aren't always what they seem (especially in politics).

You seem to be saying, the Republicans cannot turn this ship around, until they have the Democrats convinced we are headed in the wrong direction also.Obviously that will never happen.
I am pessimistic about the prospect of ever stopping the big spending and buying of votes.
To recap: CFR is stupid. Root of the problem is the unlimited money avail to Beltway Bandits of either party. Making an electoral issue of stopping it won't work.

I agree.

I support GWB 100% for 2nd term. I believe there will be some Conservative good in the domestic legislative agenda. However, I don't think that will include significant slowdown of big spending.

W has gained NOTHING by the Kennedy education bill, Ted still stabs him at every turnNo, the coopting or triangulating strategy (of which that is a part) HAS neutralized Dems politically. I honestly don't know if W/Rove were expecting more direct payback from the likes of Kennedy.
Teddy did end up supporting the drugs bill. Other Dems did not want to give W the legislative win. But even there, Teddy was probably acting out of the honest belief that it was good to get that entitlement enacted and this was its last best chance, given the coming wave of Republican dominance.

Who's winning?
Bush and the PARTY might "win". But the socialists are "winning" as well. We are moving in their direction. They are not moving in our direction.
The further left Democrats, go the further left Republicans go.
They are both socialists now. I see no hope for reversing course

"The nature of warfare has changed, and in today;s world, money is a weapon."
Yep, sounds like a global socialist. If you are the face of the RP, then it is not worth supporting.
My ideal candidate is anyone who pledges to reduce the size and scope of government dramatically. I am not convinced that the leadership in the RP or the Dems have any interest in doing that right now.
At this time, for me personally, there is no solution in the RP. You on the other hand are satisfied with giant, wasteful, and arrogant government. You have the perfect situation for your world view. Congrats.
The only thing I can do is to help candidates locally who share my belief set and look to displace the relics from the bottom up.
