Kevin Schmidt, a conservative living in Iowa, has capitalized on easy access to all of the Democratic presidential candidates vying for attention in his state. Schmidt started a website, ninedwarfs.com , designed to document the Iowa Democratic primaries from "a conservative point of view."
Schmidt states the following on his site:
"I am striving to meet all of the nine presidential candidates, speak with them, and have my picture taken with them. Thats where the ninedwarfs.com comes in. I am considerably taller than every one of the candidates and they look of rather short stature standing next to me, hence ninedwarfs.com."
Schmidt was having a lot of success, meeting and having his picture taken with six of the candidates and posting humorous and articulate descriptions of his encounters: John Edwards , "Reverend" Al Sharpton , Little Dick Gephardt , Dennis Kucinich , Howard Dean , and Joe Lieberman. . Then, he ran into John Kerry.
Schmidt's account of his visit to John Kerry's BBQ event garnered some media attention. Slate.com and MSNBC had stories about the incident, which led to a mention in Howard Kurtz's online column for the Washington Post.
The growing attention to the site (including being named Best of the Web today) exposed the Kerry campaign's ineptness and paranoia, but it has also started to bring out the rabid Dean supporters, who are posting comments after each report and daily blog.
Some supportive and equally articulate Freeper comments would give Kevin's site a boost and help negate the inevitable Dean trolls. You will find Schmidt's blogs to be both amusing and well written. Let's give him a big Freeper pat on the back.
