What's really being expressed here is very bad manners, a lack of consistant intellectual courage, a spoiled brat mentality, selfishness, a poor command of the working principles of our government and it's voters, arrogance, and emotional instability.
An introduction to philosophy course at the local community college would do this guy a world of good. He lacks a framework in which he can debate.
Like many of us here at FR, our own writings are our worst enemy. Of course we are all civil with each other. A quality Mr.Morford seems to lack. Not a very classy guy.
In today's political climate, yes. The left uses the homosexuals as another of its victim groups in need of special treatment by the law. Therefore, their attitudes and political positions are of importance, not just as sterile thought, but in context.
It is if one makes it so. It is usually done by liberals, who are shameless in their exploitation of gays as yet another group of pawns in the "victimization" gambit. That is, "vote for us 'Rats, who will protect you from the evil homophobic Republicans by making you yet another member of a 'protected class'". The left uses sexual orientation as another wedge to further divide the country.
Speaking for myself only, I don't give a crap what sexual orientation a person has, as long as they are not in-my-face about it (gay or straight).
