I love that quote. It shows just what contempt they had for Clinton, doesn't it.

Sorry, but the older generation also paid their share. They take a lot of money out of my paycheck and have since I was 14. I intend to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I also get a pension, so I don't have to depend entirely on social security. If I feel well enough, I will work after 65 and collect social security and still work.

The Muslims are taking over London and they want to take over the US. We need to be very aware of their actions even when they aren't terrorists. They still want to steal away our freedom.

Honored you'd even think of it!
No sweat! I'll depend on my HIGH TOWER and HIS hedge about me.
I suppose we could have . . . courtesy of you . . . in spirit anyway . . . the
"ROAMING HONORARY NOMEX
ANTI-SHRILLERY FIRE-BREATH
SUIT-OF-LIFE-IN-THE-FACE-OF-DEATH SUIT"
or some such.
Sent by email, of course . . . as the need arises.
And in liu of the tangible NOMEX suit, we could boast proudly a framed certificate . . . and the one with the most charred square millimeters after 12 months wins . . . uhhhhh . . . wins uhhhhhhh wins respect as the most charred survivor of the tin-foil hat assaults . . . or some such.
Then again, we could avoid the bother altogether and eat a Hagen Daz vanilla and almond bar instead.
Anyway--love your humor and knowing you.

This is the first time I've met him (I think). I like him.

My beef is with the old folks who consider SS to be a retirement fund. It was never designed to be one, but only used as a helping hand, which is what churches/family/charity is for anyway.
Social Security is a forced Government run charity/theft program that is bankrupt and has no accountability, and doles out money to people who have no need for it.
I want to opt out, but the government forces me to pay this unwanted tax.
I can better manage my own money for retirement than the government.

I agree with you.
What worries me always, is the people who are complacent. If the gradual stipping away of our liberties allows radical groups to gain a foothold, it won't matter if we welcome them with open arms or not. The radical ideals will grow like a weed in our heartlands, and quietly spread their ideas.

As I've told plenty of counseling clients . . . either I've done it, my relatives have done it, our low paying renters have done it or my clients have done it or it probably hasn't been done. So they may as well lay aside their self-consciousness or hollow pride and let us get on with sorting out a better life for them and those close to them. I am reminded of the phrase, "There is nothing new under the son."

I think my point is that they hate us not because of what we have, but because of who we are; or rather, who we are not: Muslims.

It's nothing against the President. I just think to dismiss the hatred of us as being because we are free is an oversimplification. It goes a lot deeper than that, has to do with their culture and their religion. I think it has the potential of causing a false sense of security.

hehe, Diet Pepsi here, too. I was referring to my favorite radio station here in Houston, the Walton & Johnson show. One of them suggested it on air, and since then, I have paid careful attention to his speeches just to see how often he says those words.
As a transplanted yankee, I have to say that I have adopted some southern sayin's myself. It happened after I said "you guys" to some girls - I caught hell. BTW-I are one myself! (a girl that is).
But Texan is a different "twang" as opposed to the southern drawl of North Carolina, which is the last place I lived before coming down here.

I do hope that Bush gets his plan to revamp or at least give a choice to folks who want to plan their own retirement with stocks, etc. I assume he'll do it next time around, if he gets in. I understand how you feel. I wish government weren't so large either We need to cut back on pork spending and get back to what our government was before Franklin Roosevelt, the socialist president, took over. I won't hold my breath, though.
