Actually, this is pretty good news.
The guy is nuts, but does have some good ideas occasionally.
I am afraid he was trouble waiting to happen however. Political trouble.

I hear Rummy was still accepting his resignation over lunch, in the men's room, on cell phone with friends, and to his personal security contingent.....
To: KantianBurke
The primary thing that is wrong with the idea is that the government/defense dept. was running it.
It should have been done in the private sector and likely will be.

How unfortunate.
Message sent: No brilliant people thinking outside the box need to apply for government jobs, even when their brilliance may help us prevent terrorist attacks.
I really wish Rumsfeld had done his homework and realized the brilliance of Poindexter's ideas and kept him on.
DARPA is a research organization -- apparently it's a sin to even research good ideas.
To: Timesink
If this is true, it's the best news I've heard in a while. Good riddance to this police-state loving spook.

As much as I agree with you, the point of DARPA charter was that it was felt that the private sector was just too slow for some things.

So is the TIA off the table now?
To: Timesink
I am also dismayed at how many freepers are jumping on the "hate Poindexter, good riddance" bandwagon.
That is why the Dems keep succeeding with the help of the media: they put out misleading information, and most people, even reasonably intelligent people just swallow it hook, line and sinker.
To: Timesink
Poindexter would have made a good Nazi. Good riddance.
To: Timesink
Good riddance to bad rubbish. THe man is dangerous. Can not believe he still has a job in the government. Or did at any rate.
To: Timesink
I'm a Rep and I think his idea was NUTS!

I am also dismayed at how many freepers are jumping on the "hate Poindexter, good riddance" bandwagon. A number of whom are known Bush-haters and just salivating for an excuse.
