Dallas Cowboys: "There's always the cheerleaders."
Looks like we'll be regurgitating all those jokes from 1989:
Heard over the Texas Stadium PA: "Will the mother of the two kids please get them off the field. They're beating the Cowboys 14 to 0."
Or the road signs that said "Loop 12 - Cowboys 0"
Or my favorite "They scheduled a practice between the Cowboys and the SMU football team. The reason was that the Cowboys needed the practice and SMU needed the win."

I'll post one fact. The Detroit Lions were fined $20,000 by the NFL because they did not interview any minorities for their head coach position.

There was this one from "Whose Line Is It Anyway?":
- "Beverly Hills 90210, Cleveland Browns 3"

How is that "unclassy"? Isn't it good off-season maneuvering? (I haven't even heard about the trades. Were they skirting the rules?)
To: LIBERATENJ
That was $200,000 and is nuts because none of the 5 black assistant coaches they asked to come in for an interview wanted to because they knew Mariucci was getting the job...

If my team ( one of the most soundly built teams in league history) had three Lombardi's from the 90s to hold up,...any jokes would roll right off my back.

and the "rule" isn't even an official NFL policy yet.

Will Hail to the Redskins be replaced by "Danny and the Jets"

Matt Millen was fined $200,000. Yeah it was stupid, but calling that racist is at least as stupid as the NFL's fine.

Isn't that a great quirk in the schedule? NYJ-WAS on Thursday night, first game of the year!
To: lormand
If you are White and support the NFL, you are part of the problem.Sounds like a personal problem to me.

Actually it became official policy in December, they put it in place right before the annual coach firing binge. While I feel for Millen and certainly think it's a stupid rule, he knew the rule and he knew they'd be looking to make an example of someone in the first year of the rule. He shouldn't have volunteered to be that example.

Well I'll give the Skins credit for going after young free agents this time around (last time they overpaid for a batch FA geezers) so I'll grant you the idea/plan was good off-season manuevering.
But raiding one team for five players was unclassy IMO. All the owners took notice and from what I've read the majority thought it shabby.
I also think they overpaid for Coles.

The Detroit Lions were fined $20,000 by the NFL because they did not interview any minorities for their head coach position. You're right. But you have to look further to find the real reason: Paul Tagliabue is a wimp who was afraid to say no.
The process nor the penalty for not interviewing were brought before the owners before enacted. If anything, they should be null and void.
But when Johnnie Cochran barked, Tagliabue jumped.

He contacted 5 blacks who refused to fly out to Michigan to be interviewed for a job that was basically filled already. (Who could blame them?) How exactly is that "volunteering" to be the whipping boy for a racist rule? He did his Liberal duty and looked at people defining them simply by the color of their skin.
