[history]
July 31, 2003 -- CNN dumped Connie Chung last year because her ratings were disappointing - but her replacement, Paula Zahn, is drawing even fewer viewers.
On average, 761,000 viewers watched Chung's tabloid-style 8 p.m. show last July compared to 579,000 for Zahn's show this month.

Every time Susa Estrich comes on, I switch channels. I cannot stand her voice.
As to Zahn, she reminds me of a deer caught in the headlights. The rare times I've seen her, she has had dark roots showing. Surely she can afford a decent bleach job. Or is this an ethnic/racial statement?

I remember Rush talking about that interview later and referring to her looks - that she hadn't distracted him too much "if you know what I mean". (paraphrasing)

I agree with the general thread here that she doesn't add any gravitas to what she's covering. In her defense though, she flew across country with a broken leg in a cast to help host a tribute to President Bush 41.

is there a thread on that (Rush and Paula)? I missed that but would love to hear about it.

That wasn't Zahn, it was Geraldine Ferraro who was doing commentary with O'Reilly. No, it was Zahn who was co-anchoring with Brit Hume.
In other words, when there wasn't a story (i.e. a no-contest political event) she was happy. But when our entire democratic system began to be tested, and it became obvious that a complex series of constitutional crises would occur (i.e. big stories, lots to discuss, much to investigate and speculate) she was unhappy?
No, this was before any of that was known. In fact Gore "conceded" shortly after that, then of course retracted his concession.

She just went glassy eyed and could barely stay coherent. She was like that before the election. (:>)

Zahn, CNN's $2 million Anchor, returned to the air in late June after nearly a seven-week absence to take over the 8 p.m. timeslot and launch a new show, tentatively titled, "American Evening." ...[O]ver the next few months producers will be adding "a new name, surroundings and features."
Undoubtedly the new theme will include loud splashes of red, white and blue.
What's the feminine term for "scoundrel?"

"--I noticed Ellen Ratner sitting among the reporters--"
Was she wearing huge dark glasses?
Referring to Ratner as a news analyst really stretches the phrase. Wish Fox News could rid themselves of all these screeching media hos."

The Three Firefighters is still my screen saver.
The scene catches my breath each time I see it.
Such fraud to attempt changing a true piece of history!!!

Add this to her bio - speaks volumns.
During the Monica time, Ratner, on H & C, stated she wished Bubba Clinton had asked her instead of Monica to play house in the White House. This flaming women's rights advocate, feminist, left wing mouth would have, if only he had asked, done a monica with Hillary in the next room.

This is the New York Times CNN Schadenfreude Ping List. Freepmail me to be added or dropped.
This is the nascent Mainstream Media Shenanigans ping list. Please freepmail me to be added or dropped.
Please note this will likely become a high-volume list.
Also feel free to ping me if you come across a thread you would think worthy of the ping list. I can't catch them all!

Zahn still works for CNN?I wouldn't know - I've refused to watch CNN ever since they admitted they were spiking stories from Iraq in an effort to make Saddam look like a really swell guy.
