I think that he did have WMD or at least was trying to acquire them and I also think that he was involved with Al queda and was in fact in cahoots with Osama, so yes I do believe that he was a threat to us. Now is Hussein worth the life of one U.S. soldier? Hell no, but getting rid of his worthless hide is worth it. But that doesn't change the fact that I hate that our soldiers are getting killed, we need to quit worrying about the Iraqi's feelings & the worlds opinion and take care of business where our guy's and gal's don't die every day. If Bush doesn't get a handle on things and end this soon, he may very well be a 1 term President.

A tinpot dictator like Hussein who couldn't even mount a competent defense a or use his alleged WMD's when push came to shove is a threat to the "free world?" Ah....the power of fairy tales.

It's not that Hussein was a threat to win a war against an American army, but rather that Hussein was in a position to finance the development of weapons that could be given to terrorists and used on civilian targets that made him a problem.

Certainly his $20,000 payments to the families of each "martyr" Palestinian suicide bomber in Israel was destabilizing the region, and at least one terrorist organization was operating in Iraq's northern mountains, which is not the sort of base for terror that we need to allow to go unchecked.

Not that you care about any of that. You are a Libertarian activist. It's your **job** to bash whatever Parties are actually in power, by taking whatever angle is convenient at the time to so do. You can merely criticize, not praise...and tear down, not build up.

Once again, going to war against Iraq had **NOTHING** to do with his ability to mount a conventional defense against an American army. Hussein's "competent defense" ability (or lack thereof), is besides the point.

It is **you**, and your Libertarian ilk, who insist upon arguing such straw men as Hussein's inability to defend competently with his conventional forces.

I merely pointed out a couple of easy reasons to show that you had missed the point of Hussein's "threat" to the world residing in his ability to fund and potentially arm terrorists for their attacks on peaceful civilians, rather than on what little harm they could do to a modern army.

How much money did Hussein funnel into the terrorist world?

Yes, Iraq was a danger to the US. He was a danger to the entire world. No one wants soldiers to die.

Just heard on FOX that there is a Shiite cleric who has claimed he will build a million man army to defete the Americans and the new Iraqi government.

Then why does he still live?

May God welcome him home to His waiting arms, and may He comfort the family and heal the wounded.

I don't know what they will do with him. I know that they have been arresting some instigators. I will be watching the news about this if there is any more.

I understand that this guy's family goes way back. He is one of those revered Shiite clerics who can do no wrong.

I'm sure they don't mean to, but the 'bounciness' in the way they report such things just... grates on me. I can't watch CNN for several years now, because of a certain cloying attitude to just about everything. Lou Dobbs is good stuff, maybe a couple others, but that's it.
