I'm in Seattle on a speaking tour with limited access to a computer. I'm glad to see you guys shaking this one out and getting people to see just how creepy this stuff gets.

According to Don Fife, Catellus acted as the real estate agent that arranged "compensation" for Southern Pacific rights of way pursuant to one of Bubba's EOs. Of course, SP had no intention of ever exercising those rights of way and they were virtually worthless, but somehow the US government managed to pay SP 20X what they were worth. One rationally notes that SP was treated quite a bit better than the miners with active claims in the area who were basically stiffed.
