New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)
Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. Id always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller s series and more so the S357.
Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, Ive seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.
Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc
) as this is my first 40.
Shot it already and WOW!!!
Accurate, once you get use to the trapezoid sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.
It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldnt, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.
I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away Ill get me a few normal capacity mags for it (12 rounds) and then shell make a rather nice beside the bed gun.
Its so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

It looks fun and affordable.. I need a handgun. These rifles get heavy and thats what kids are for.
If I remember correctly, it was Jeff Cooper who said that a handgun is what you use to shoot your way back to your rifle!

That's a Taurus. Nice for the price, or so I've been told.
Anyone have an opinion on the CZ 75 series? I'm thinking about getting the 75 compact. I'd splurge on the USP, but that's out of reach.

If ya really wanna shoot the bejesus out of something, then what ya need is good old fashioned iron. Ma Deuce will do the job, but she's a little hard to conceal, even under a full tuxedo with tails and tophat. :)

Is that their version of the 1911. My next purchase will be a version of the John Browning design. I will be the third generation to carry that weapon. Many men in my family carried it as officers and I want one.

Someday I hope to buy a "ThunderZot".
You will ask, 'LibKill, whatinhell is a 'ThunderZot'?
That is a very good question and deserves a set of specifications.
1. It must stop a hostile in his tracks with one well-placed shot.
2. It must be small enough for concealed carry. By that I mean that it should fit in the average jeans pocket without raising alarms.
3. Add options that you think would be desireable.

I guess I need to get out more.
Thought I knew guns pretty well but had never heard of the Steyr M40, thought it was probably a new assault rifle or maybe short bolt action.
The gun may be great but it sure doesn't look good.

Amen, brother. My HK USP Compact .40 is the sweetest pistol I've ever had the pleasure to hold. It has also never jammed, misfired, failed to fire or failed to feed...in short, a pistol I trust my life with.
