New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)

New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)

Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. I’d always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller “s” series and more so the S357.

Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, I’ve seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.

Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc…) as this is my first 40.

Shot it already and WOW!!!

Accurate, once you get use to the “trapezoid” sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.

It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldn’t, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.

I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away I’ll get me a few “normal capacity” mags for it (12 rounds) and then she’ll make a rather nice beside the bed gun.

It’s so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

"I could draw and hit a plate from 18 feet away in 1.8 seconds. I know that doesn't sound fast but any faster and I was missing."

A remember a funny anecdote I heard at a IDPA match a few months ago: "You can't miss fast enough".

Allow me to make up a name for a gun safe.

A gun safe is a boom closet.

You heard it here first.

I thought I would be banned during the JFK stuff. I realized I'm one of the minority to think the way I do but it was ridiculous for a while. A couple of my friends self destructed and went on to different things.

All in all, I think the moderators do a good job. They can't stop someone from losing their temper.

I think your buddy, sneaky could have turned it down a notch if he didn't have those health problems.

Oh, yeah, back to guns. My Smith .22 came back with a new slide and sight rail and now it's two tone. The slide has a golden hue to it. I suppose I should give them a call and see what they have to say about that. Turn around was only about two weeks.

I think that's a Jeff Cooper quote

The first time I heard it, Cooper's next door neighbor, Col. Bob Young said it.

Unfortunately, he was describing my shooting.

Sneaky was just on a diverging path for a long time. Then he posted his health warning thread in good faith, and folks used it as a chance to land a lot of low blows, and that was it.

He's a big poster at LP, which is evolving into a fine forum.

I have a new contact who's going to get my book to Jeff Cooper.

If he gives it a good review, it'll be off to the races.

We were doing a man on man and I had a full magazine and just the stop plate to hit to win the stage. I unloaded as fast as I could and shot a complete ring around the stop plate.

There were times I made a fool out of myself but I have to admit, I don't repeat too many mistakes.

Taking a class like that changed my life, my shooting and my habits. I highly recommend going to a class like that. The next best thing is IDPA.

Feisty as ever, in more libertarian-oriented waters where he's not ganged up on so much.

I mentioned "Unintended Consequences" to him and he thought the book came in a plain brown wrapper.

I didn't recall any sex in that book so I read it again. Hmm, well, there is that one part. Oh, then there's the part at the match. Oh, yeah, and then there's that other scene, etc..

I think Ross did an excellent job. Now if he would only rethink the JFK stuff. LOL.

Good for him.

I'll never forget that time when he thought I had insinuated that snake eaters in Laos had been known to be homosexuals sleeping with tribal boys....lol...the one time he was at a complete loss of words. Damn, I was embarrassed he took it that way.

Everybody else on the thread howled.
