New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)
Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. Id always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller s series and more so the S357.
Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, Ive seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.
Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc
) as this is my first 40.
Shot it already and WOW!!!
Accurate, once you get use to the trapezoid sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.
It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldnt, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.
I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away Ill get me a few normal capacity mags for it (12 rounds) and then shell make a rather nice beside the bed gun.
Its so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

Thanks for the ping! I am embarrassed to admit (and I wouldn't care to share it with the gummint anywho) how many of the fine firearms on this wonderful thread I own or have owned.
Current social gun is my old .45 Colt's Combat Commander with a recent addition - an Ed Brown beavertail. That and a Helton trigger-job and it's pretty much as it was given to me in 1974. About 50,000 rounds ago.
My general guidance when asked about firearms - which is frequent, even in liberal Seattle - is from Kipling:
There are nine and sixty ways
Of constructing tribal lays
And every single one of them is right!
Don't have a .50 yet, though. So I need one.

Outstanding! I've got similar family album pix...

The Weatherby 338/378 accumark is my idea of a serious rifle. Half minute of angle accurate, capable of sending a 225 grain bullet out there at 3200 fps, light enough for a girl to carry around and recoil about that of a 308 with a 20" barrel( and no muzzle brake). The 338/378 is actually bigger than the 338 Lapua and packs more of a punch.

Is that Hollywood in the distance? After a closer look at the picture I can't see how you might have possibly made that connection!

room broom actually was the nickname given to the MAC 10 by some special ops forces who used it when on detached duty for the Company, mostly in SE Asia during the early 70's.
With a 32 round clip and a cyclic rate of something like 1800 rpm it wasn't good for much else. Drop one friendly in a room full of bad guys and swing from side to side quickly. Kinda like strapping some claymores to yourself (the part labeled "this side toward enemy" definitly away from your body) and setting them off. Ever see the movie "Spaced Invaders"? Talk about your donut of destruction...

I don't see any indication that this is pointed at Hollywood either!!!!

Better yet, with the integrated suppressor
'course, I'd also want a nice laser site, preferably in IR to go with my night vision goggles...
The MAC 10 predates the MP5 by quite a few years and was intended for a special purpose, literally cleaning out a nest of bad guys in close quarters. It was also .45, as Mr Ingram also believed in stopping power, as well as the cost effectiveness of stamped steal. Witness his "grease gun" from WW2.

A double lol on those!
Paris would work too! =^)

"Id like to find me a nice HK 91 for my rifle of choice."
I'm a big fan, especially since they are "end of the world" guns that will never need repair parts.
However, buy (trust me!) and read "Boston's Gun Bible" and learn about the alternatives. Half the book is devoted to this important choice. The M14/M1A1 is an arguably contender you shouldn't rule out.
But if you are still thinking about an HK, buy mags NOW while they are dirt cheap (less than $5 each - buy 100!)
If you go with the 91, get a tac-latch, a Williams trigger job, and you will be happy. (Search at www.hkpro.com if you are confused.)

"Here is my daughter at 12yo with my AR-15."
As a .308 snob (and tongue-in-cheek) I can now remark that you have found the proper use for a .223 battle carbine. FOR LITTLE GIRLS!
(And seriously, you are a great father. Thank you for your investment in the future of our freedom.)

it is a quip from a Samuel L. Jackson movie - Foxy Brown???
whatever... it was a perversion of the motto in old FedEx commercials.

the AK-47 is for firing off indiscriminate random bursts at "who the hell cares." Uh-uh. mine is almost a tack-driver. of couse, it is also heavily customized.
