Posted on 07/30/2003 1:43:46 PM PDT by dwilli

Is anyone listening to the intellectual exchanges between Hannity and his opponent from Cincy?

This is debate?

I guess I go by a different set of criteria: Could I (or anyone I know!) do better than Hannity? I doubt it!

I believe that Michael Medved, for example, is a superior intellect and talker. But who can doubt that Hannity has garnered more listeners, raised more awareness, and confronted the liberals more than Medved, Hewitt, Prager, and a hundred of other conservative hosts combined?

THESE THINGS are the marks of a superior host.

His intellect is a mile wide and an inch deep is my point

I think we can all agree on this, but he's much more of a straight-talker than Rush. He explains an issue ad-nauseum... You and I know all of the issues inside and out, and rarely learn something from him, but there's a vast number of independants and moderate Dems who could be convinced to switch sides if they hear the message often enough... That's where Sean's valuable.

I will give Sean credit for a good message if nothing else - work hard, take responsibility and don't let the Libs poison your mind. Simple message, delivered effectively

Exactly... and very few folks get into people's faces, exposing the libs' lies, and giving them rope to hang themselves the way Sean does...

Listen as Sean Hannity fumbles and stutters his way through his same ol' tired mantra. Anyone with half a brain knows that Hannity is an intellectual light-weight.

Yup. I don't think he made it through high school. His grammar is horrible!

Hannity has limited points and counterpoints. His scope is limited to those factors. Anytime the arguements stray from his points and counterpoints, he is a lost soul.

Absolutely! I suggest you go out and get into the talk radio business now. Start at the very bottom where he did, and work your way up. Learn the meaning of flexibility by moving from city to city trying to hang on to your job and build an audience. And while you're at it, raise a family too! Meanwhile, you can learn to deal with constant carping from people who sniff that you're "not intellectual enough".

When you achieve what he has, after all the crap that is built into the radio industry(I've seen it firsthand), come back and tell us about your nationally syndicated show that sways voters to the correct view. In the meantime, I'd suggest you STFU.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that Hannity reaches a large group of listeners. The more on OUR side the better. I just think Sean lacks a bit of sophistication and a real understanding of certain issues.

Like you, I enjoy listening to someone who clearly understands the issues he discusses, and is able to communicate his ideas in clear and concise points.

For those inclined, Prager, Medved, and Hewitt are available online, anytime, to anyone with internet access.

I listen to the same program you listen to, or at least I thought... He's a NYer, doesn't have much (any) of a NY accent, and speaks fairly well. What's wrong with his grammar? Give me an example.

Or better yet, give me a break... Are you the grammar police?

I agree. Sean is not a mensa but he does go on ad nauseum on his agenda. In that regard, he is useful to the Conservative party in attempting to get the Dims to wake up, use common sense, and maybe change their thought process to logic, instead of emotion.

Yes, but Hannity did make Clark look stupid when he wouldn't answer whether he would run as a Republican or Democrat.

I also liked when he told Bill Maher he didn't like him...twice on the same show.

Think he went to NYU, don't know if he got his degree. I sort of envy Hannity, he has done quite well with what he's got.

It's amazing that Hannity and Boortz were both local in Atlanta at the same time; Hannity got the big bucks, Boortz,
second tier. Boortz is many times more entertaining than Hannity.

I don't know about the schedule, but I'll see if I can steal the remote to the screen at my duty post, and tune in!

I'll take Bob Grant over Hannity any day. Bob is the grandfather of all these conservative hosts.

Bob Grant is the definition of extreme. He makes Savage sound like Captain Kangaroo.

Here's a guy who's worked his tail off, as you've pointed out, and is on the air for 4 hours a day every day, plus traveling, plus how much research and prep time does he put in?

I'm VERY thankful he's on our side... I sometimes wonder... he's a millionaire several times over... He doesn't need all of the abuse- he gets enough from the other side, he shouldn't get it from conservatives as well...

Part of it is the fact that Rush has raised the bar so high

Part of it is that in most markets he follows Rush, and you've already heard this before.

Part of it is the availability/access to information on the web- people rely on the web for their news now far more than just a couple of years ago (I do), so by the time that Sean breaks a story, many of us have already heard it, so we think it's old news, and Sean's behind the curve

I often wonder whether Sean will soon hang it up, write a couple more books, and say to heck with everyone, and enjoy his family and his life...

I wonder if that would make these naysayers happy...

He's a solid conservative on every major issue, is a family man, hard worker, supports conservatives, does fundraising events, and has a huge following, second after Rush... What more do you want from this guy? Really? I believe he's even more influential than Rush, courtesy of his TV show. There are plenty of women I know who wouldn't dream of listening to Rush (even though they know nothing about him, it's a stigma) that would listen to Sean because he provides information in a crisp, clear method.

I, for one, and surely glad he;s on our side.

Might his looks be the reason some of these females are
so attentive?

I don't watch CSI Miami because of Horatio.

I also liked when he told Bill Maher he didn't like him...twice on the same show.

I think he is becoming sensitive to criticism of being perceived as too nice to his liberal guests. What is required are hard questions and the flexibility to deal with innacurate assertions made on the spot, not confrontation for confrontation's sake.

But I appreciate where Sean's coming from, and when all is said & done its tough to argue with his success.

We have a distinct lingo on Long Island. I am born and bred hear just like Sean. I also went to Catholic school. It is very hard to get rid of the accent and grammer. Sean has made a great attempt at it and sounds good. One criticism I received years ago was that I type just as I sound. Its very hard to re-program ourselves to normal American grammer.

Having said that, Hannity is my favorite. I enjoy listening and being entertained. I like Rush and some of the others. I find Hannity accessible and a good friend to the conservative cause.

A few weeks ago I heard Rush say he did not know what a lap dance was. I found that incredible. At least Hannity is honest when he is niave about something.

If that's what brings them in, hopefully the message he delivers keeps them listening... More power to him, right?

I heard that too and found it amazing... Then he backtracked a bit, saying it's sort of what he thought it was... No way I belived it.

You mentioned Sean and research....I have access to him online directly if need be and he is online at last 8 hours per day if not more. He also checks online on weekends. He is a good partner to conservatism. I know he has people do research for him as well however I find he does a lot on his own. I have tipped him off many times.

I do not abuse having access to him and only contact him when I know his research dolts are sleeping. Its nice as I have met him twice and we are on name basis.
