The search is on for a fifth woman on "The View."
Co-host and executive producer Barbara Walters announced Friday that 10 to 20 women would appear on the ABC morning talk show for tryouts this fall. The new cast member will be introduced live on Nov. 26.
Lisa Ling, the youngest co-host, left in December and is now working for National Geographic (news - web sites) Explorer. The new woman will team with Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar.
Before the co-host search, a number of celebrities have filled the chair, including singer Mariah Carey (news), actress Whoopi Goldberg (news) and conservative author Ann Coulter.
Rachel Campos, formerly of MTV's "The Real World (news - Y! TV): San Francisco," will be the first to receive a two-day tryout right after Labor Day. Next up on Sept. 4 and 5 is Christy Lemire, an entertainment writer for The Associated Press, who will write a first-person story about her experience.

If I was Ann, I wouldn't tarnish my resume by being a host on that vapid drivel.

now that would make it a good program... Star Jones and Ann Coulter (a conservative male's natural Viagra)... guess they'd have to use wide screen for star.

It won't work. They'll gang up on her during every show, then claim that she's hurting the dynamic. Then they'll fire her like they fired Debbie Matenopoulos - in the hopes of ruining Ann's prrofessional reputation, marketability and career.

She'd add spice as well as beauty to the show (which I never waste my time watching), but would she want to me mentioned in the same breath as those other liberal empty suits?
It won't happen anyhow, they'll pull in another liberal, probably "Rue Paul".

I don't think Ann Coulter will last long on TV. One politically incorrect comment and she'll be shown the door like Michael Savage.

Didn't Ann make a guest appearance in which they ganged up on her and tried to trash her?
To: presidio9
You think Ann would want to sit in any chair previously used by Mariah Carey?

Yeah, you're right. Liberals can wish death on as many conservatives as they like, and keep their jobs. However, just let one conservative say one thing about a lib and it's "hit the road."

Joy Behar scares me. She reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall.

I heard that Laura Ingraham is getting a TV slot on FOX News Channel this fall.

I would agree, if it was something more intellectually stimulating that a group of no-talent hacks all trying to talk over each other. If Ann is going to host any show, it needs to be something more substantive that The View.

LOL! Having her, or Ann, on there will make the rest of the hostesses look like The Golden Girls.

Didn't Ann make a guest appearance in which they ganged up on her and tried to trash her? If I remember correctly, she handled herself pretty good on that show.
I wonder how much she would have to tone it down to last though.
