Hume: "The French government now admits that American anger over its opposition to the war in Iraq is eating away at its tourist industry. But the damage may be even worse than the government is willing to say. The French Ministry of Tourism says the number of American tourists fell by 30% in the first quarter of this year. But the president of the French travel agents union tells The Scotsman newspaper that the number of Americans visiting France has actually fallen by as much as 80% so far this year."

"pound" is the word. yuk2...
Still and all, Capri over here has the ususal presence of UK visitors, and Americans of all stripes, crème de la crème, to regular workin' stiffs like YT.
The latter category numbers are surely markedly down, however. My heart tugs when I see fellow Americans. The way they used to travel 40/50 years ago, and today...

Ah great answer. I see you didn't care to answer whether an American is unpatriotic for visiting France to lay flowers on the grave of a relative who fell in the war. Or visiting family or driving through etc. I don't blame you for avoiding that. You'd wind up looking like an ass if you answered it.
I also don't blame you for skating out on telling me how long my vacation should or shouldn't be. Again, it's that resemblence to buttocks thing. I'll just accept that as your not so graceful concession to this entire argument.

Huh?
I didn't even bother to read your screed. Scanning a few lines at random was quite enough for me or for most people to draw the obvious conclusion.

Gentle sarcasm ON.
The obvious conclusion -to Prodigal Son at least- SHOULD BE that his opponent just gots the sheepskin in the mail.

Gentle sarcasm OFF.

I declare victory. George W Bush acknowledges this through his silence.

I declare victory...blah-blah-blah, pointless noise, droning from the wilderness...

This coming from someone who declares someone unpatriotic for laying flowers on the graves of fallen servicemen?
To: Prodigal Son; George W. Bush
Let the record reflect that George W Bush says that anyone who travels to France to lay flowers on the graves of those Americans who have fallen in battle are unpatriotic.

While we are at it, how about boycotting Quebec as well.
