Hume: "The French government now admits that American anger over its opposition to the war in Iraq is eating away at its tourist industry. But the damage may be even worse than the government is willing to say. The French Ministry of Tourism says the number of American tourists fell by 30% in the first quarter of this year. But the president of the French travel agents union tells The Scotsman newspaper that the number of Americans visiting France has actually fallen by as much as 80% so far this year."

RCA is now French??? (Radio Corp. of America)
Been owned by Thomsen, a French corporation, for over ten years.
For middle-class people who don't travel to Europe, boycotting RCA is one of the most effective things they can do. Tell WalMart to get those frog droppings off their shelves! RCA product quality is sheer crap anyway, has been for a long time. Buy some good quality Japanese stuff instead. They're loyal allies. But don't bother paying premium prices for Sony stuff because their quality has dropped to the same as the other Asian electronics. Sony is just continuing to get a price premium by milking their (formerly deserved) reputation for having superior electronics in the past.

Our faithful old RCA tv about 12 years old will die one of these days.
We will buy a Japanese brand probably to replace it.
First RCA moved the actual building of their tvs out of America to places like Mexico. Then somewhere along the line the company was bought out by the French.
Think that is bad! Wild Turkey is now owned by a French Company.

Yep RCA sure is owned by Thomson electronics in Paris.
For that matter Technicolor is also owned by Thomson.
The bigger problem is they have laid off most of the RCA staff in the US and sent our jobs to China and didn't (read that couldn't french law) lay off anyone in France.

What kind lf a French name is THOMSON? That is not French... and while I am posting, many Americans are not traveling to France because of fear of terrorism, and/or fear they are not wanted or liked by the French, NOT because they want to "screw the French".
To: Eowyn-of-Rohan
It comes from the old Thomsom Bulle group when they merged in the 70s if I remeber right. Thomson has only been a public corporation for few years having been owned by the French goverment for long while.

I guess that having the left wing Woody Allen as their spokesit, making fun of Americans didn't work to well. The visual Woody encouraged of him french-kissing his adopted daughter was a bad idea, too.
On the bright side, the odds that Johnny Depp & Jessica Lange will be embarrassed by a chance encounter with a dreaded ugly American tourist/fan have gone way down.

Me too. I just can't help myself...

There would have been little to no anger over a principled opposition. France was looking out for its own cozy deal with that mass murderer...So true and never noted by the media.
To: George W. Bush
No American should ever go to France again for any reason unless he is sent there by our government.

Is the Salomon entry just the skis or Salomon boots as well?

No American should ever go to France again for any reason unless he is sent there by our government. Bollocks. Tell that to Lance Armstrong and Tyler Hamilton and the hundreds of fans that went to France to support them.

Wow, I did not know that, how depressing. Thanks. I feel guilty enough drinking Crown Royal.
