State Funds Being Used to Fight Recall
Recall Gray Davis Committee mail list ^ | July 29, 2003 | Recall Davis Committee via comwatch

Posted on 07/29/2003 7:18:07 PM PDT by comwatch

This just in from the Recall Gray Davis Committee
"YES on RECALL" Campaign Fund
P.O. Box 1445
Sacramento, CA 95812

Breaking News folks. We've received information that the Institute for Labor and Employment was set to conduct anti-Recall Gray Davis media and communications workshops for union officials to fight the Davis recall.

The budget passed by the California State Senate on July 27 includes $4million to fund the Institute for Labor and Employment at the University of California.

Now they are helping organize the labor community into a massive force to defeat the recall.

You read that right:

ANTI-RECALL FORCES ARE USING _YOUR_ TAX DOLLARS TO DEFEAT THE RECALL.

We knew the battle would be tough. That is why I am currently spending night and day on the telephone to raise enough money for the "YES on RECALL" campaign. And that's why I need your financial support to raise enough money for us to be successful.

But there is something else you can do.

Help me beat this issue over the head of the media until they report it. Call, email and write to every newspaper, radio and television station in your community and DEMAND that they cover this story of the misuse of our tax dollars.

Here is the website with the information on the taxpayer-funded ANTI-RECALL organizing sessions:

The Institute for Labor and Employment has received over $17 million from Gray Davis and the State Legislature in the last three years.

The line item for the Institute for Labor and Employment is identified in the budget as the U.C. Berkeley/UCLA Multi-Campus Research Unit for Labor Studies. It is on page 477, lines 18-21 of the budget bill passed by the Senate, AB 1765.

And that money is now being used to help defeat the recall.

Disgusted?

Then help me by alerting the media in your area and don't relent until it is the top news story on every network, on every radio station and in every newspaper. You KNOW that this would be the TOP news story if this were about inappropriate government-funding of PRO-RECALL activities.

This is NOT a RKBA ping... except that it IS, in a way.
We all acknowledge that the Second Amendment exists primarily as a threat to tyrants in our own government.
Look at what Gray Davis is doing now, as witnessed by this (original) post. *I'd* call this taxation without representation, wouldn't you?
So, I figured y'all'd want to know about this, too.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner... long day at work.

The nexus you asked about prompts me to look a little deeper for a cleaner linkage. I've not had time to fact check the message from The Honorable Howard Kaloogian, chairman of the Recall Gray Davis Committee but I've seen the two organizations in bed together in past "Anti-Everything" pursuits.

Follow the presenters: There are deep ties (some even documented) between local chapters of the California Federation of Labor and Institute for Labor and Employment. The term used in their literature is "partnering with" xxx or yyy and in this case, the local unions, "Los Angeles County Federation of Labor." (See: http://www.ucop.edu/ile/laboredu/school/2003.pdf) and note the bullet list on the right side of the page.

Per the SBCTC website (http://www.sbctc.org/default.asp?id=1867&pagetype=hotissues) "These important workshops will be led by labor experts in the field of media relations and communications from the State Building and Construction Trades Council and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor."

I found the tag line: "The campaign, 'Workers Against Recall' or 'WAR!' will provide intensive information..." an interesting choice of words. Suggests we're enemy combatants with all the rights so accorded to such... take no prisoners and f*** union thugs.

I appreciate your asking the question and will forward it along with this message to the Committee. "The truth is out there... many people just won't look for it."

From what I can tell, there are NO ties (other than they MIGHT have been co-presenters at some conferences in the past) between the two organizations.

I find it difficult to get excited about the claim that they are using taxpayer money to fund Anti-Recall seminars until someone can show a monetary link between the State Funding (which went to ILE) and the Anti-Recall Seminar (which is being sponsored by SB&CTC).

I doubt any serious media will pursue this until you can show a money trail.

I like the name they use, 'Workers Against Recall' or 'WAR' -- finally a legitimate use for those "WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER" bumber stickers.

Hey So Cal Rocket and all you FReepers who jumped on this with the media:

IT WORKED... the evidence follows. But we need to keep the pressure on!  As to the challenge"

Patriotwatch members pride themselves in double checking even friendly sources. The reason you (and others) couldn't find the nexus is because SB&CTC removed it from the WAR seminars information page AFTER being found out. WHY would they do that?  Here's the PDF file captured before they engaged in the cover-up. (I've attached a copy below too)  Is that the smell of a gun smoking? Enough for anyone else? Or do we just let them rip us for another $4 million let alone the $17 million over the past three years?  This memo bears Kaloogian's signature and a demand the Governor line item veto the item for the Institute for Labor and Employment is identified in the budget as the U.C. Berkeley/UCLA Multi-Campus Research Unit for Labor Studies.  It is on page 477, lines 18-21 of the budget bill passed by the Senate, AB 1765.

Kaloogian's office issued the Press Release today along with the evidence. CONTACT: Teri O'Rourke (916) 441-6197 should anyone still need convincing union thugs and democrats have a history of covering up their lies. In part, from that release is this statement:

"When the Recall Gray Davis Committee began a public information campaign to alert supporters to the use of taxpayer funding to defeat the recall, the website that listed information on the workshops removed all references to the Institute for Labor and Employment. Caught red-handed using taxpayer funding to fight the recall, they further tried to conceal their illegal activities by moving the location of the anti-recall workshops from the ILE’s UCLA Labor Center to the United Teachers of Los Angeles offices."

Thanks for the latest on these "crooks".

Yesterday, I posted an E-Mail that I sent to my representatives concerning this matter.
Two, as usual, ignored me but I have to share
the following E-Mail I received from
Senator Feinstein. Remember, the subject is our tax
dollars going to fight our recall of Governor Lowbeam.

July 30, 2003

--my name and address--

Dear Ms. :

Thank you for writing me regarding the future of Iraq. I appreciate
hearing from you on
this important issue.

Throughout the majority of Iraq, the regime of Saddam Hussein has
been defeated and
removed from power. Despite our success in freeing the Iraqi people, our
military continues to
encounter resistance throughout the country and must maintain a presence
until an interim
authority can be established to restore order and begin helping the Iraqi
people reconstitute their
basic social services.

So, as the fighting stops and as the remnants of the regime are
removed, we must take the
lead in rebuilding the Iraqi nation, in stabilizing its new government, in
providing interim security
to prevent the emergence of tribal hostilities and to see that Iraq is no
longer a producer of
weapons of mass destruction.

I am hopeful that all Iraqis of every ethnic and faith group, large
and small, will be
engaged in the process to establish a new Iraq. I firmly believe that the
U.S. should work closely
with the United Nations and our allies in the reconstruction of Iraq.

It is essential to demonstrate to Muslims everywhere that the United
States, while a
powerful nation, is motivated by a sincere desire to one day see the
entire world safe, prosperous,
and free.

Again, thank you for writing. I hope you will continue to keep me
informed of your views
and concerns. If you should have any further questions or comments,
please do not hesitate to
contact my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224-3841.

Best Regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

Feinstein did the same to a letter we sent. Totally off subject. Wonder how her office scores such errors?
