[history]
By design or circumstance, the Democrats are in danger of becoming the pessimistic party, counting primarily on bad news to fuel their case against President Bush's re-election in 2004.
The danger of such a strategy was evidenced this week. As U.S. troops killed two sons of Saddam Hussein

The real news is that USA Today ran this piece.

No, the USA Today routinely prints what I consider to be fair, balanced articles.

Um, no, it isn't all politics. I've been around politics for 30 years, and cannot recall the Republicans actively working against national security under a Dem. president. In the Carter years, the GOP actively ENCOURAGED Carter to rescue our people; in the Vietnam War, the issue was not that we were in a war, but that LBJ didn't want to WIN it.
What the 'rats are doing is sui generis---a party deliberately trying to undercut American security, praying for another terrorist attack, and hoping for serious casualties so as to improve its chances at power. It is despicable.

Remember when we all predicted economic gloom and doom as a result of the Clinton tax hikes of 1993? Excuse me ????? I beg to differ. I believe the recession we have been having is a direct result of those tax hikes

While I am not a scholar of the Vietnam war I think just from my limited knowledge of the history of the Vietnam war and the current situation in Iraq that even mentioning them in the same sentance is pure ignorance.
Just look at the length of engagement and casulties. The differences are vast to say the least

The people who are breaking the rules today are either blocking new bills, nominations, breaking the law... or rewriting the rules. How does this relate to the previous administration or politics?

But virtually at the moment Gephardt was delivering his speech blasting Bush, U.S. troops on July 22 were pulling the bodies of Saddam's two sons from a bullet-blistered house in Mosul,- - - "Bullet-blistered"? What kind of bullets were those?

Tell your friends not to worry, at the rate we are going there will be no unemployment for those willing to work. Employing out of work engineers at burger king is NOT satisfactory re-employment ... so i don't know what your smoking over there but I would advise you to check out the MANY H1B and offshoring threads on this site cause in the high tech area the recession is still in full swing

"Foreign policy isn't a John Wayne movie, where we catch the bad guys, hoist a few cold ones and then everything fades to black," Gephardt said. This coming from a candidate whose presidential aspirations are quickly fading to black.
