[history]
"THE PEOPLE of California know that Gray Davis created the deficit," Rep. Darrell Issa, who bankrolled the petition drive against Gov. Davis, declared on CNN last week.
Issa's comments are indicative of the hyperbole and gross simplicities that have characterized the recall campaign so far.

Where can we get the spending figures since Davis has been in office. The above article is half the story.

I don't know where the figures came from, but the numbers I have heard over and over are:
Since Gray Davis took office:
- California population + inflation = +21%
- Tax revenue taken in by California = +25%
- California State spending = +40%
If Davis and the RAT legislators had just kept spending at the level of population growth plus inflation, we'd still have a healthy surplus!

The truth is... The Progressive Income Tax Doesn't Work all the time!!! Plus, this is a deliberate strategy by Davis & Democrats to stop what they smear as "Urban Sprawl!"
They deliberately want the people to lose confidence in affordable water and power and especially, stable employment to STOP GROWTH!!! (with the exception being government employment)

Rather than the $38 billion figure usually bandied about, Jean Ross, executive director of the nonpartisan California Budget Project, says the actual deficit is closer to $31 billion.
So, the deficit is 7 billion less than the figure stated. Well, Hell, I guess California should allow Red Davis to stay and continue on smartly, huh? What an assinine and pathetic thing to say. I notice the author of this tripe fails to pin the blame on the democrat controlled government spending like drunken sailors and instead blames the economy (Bush), state tax cuts (Huh? When did that happen), and federal tax cuts (Bush). They are doing anything they can to blame the President.

CA suffers from "Battered Business Syndrome," (BBS) at the hands of Davis Democrats!!! The only cure is Rescue CA Recall!!! The goose that laid them "Golden Eggs" has flown the coop!!!
The Demo-dominated media tried to freak-out the market with the phoney "Conference Committee Report" that consumer confidence crashed in July. I worked for less than an hour!!! They've cried "Wolf," so often that no one listens anymore!!!

Davis can hardly be held accountable for the high-tech bust -- or the economic slowdown that has resulted in moderate to severe deficits not only in California, but in 40-plus states across the nation. "He couldn't take credit for the boom, and he shouldn't have to take the blame for the bust," said Ross. But he should take the blame for allowing spending to grow out of control, right? Or am I just being too rational here?

The Chronicle is virtually a house organ for the Dems. They will support the dems and Davis to the end. Unfortunately we subscribe to the rag for the sports, crosswords and general bay area news. If there was an alternative we would not take the paper. I do take the WSJ as a counter balance. Plus I have Free Republic and the internet.

Davis helped to make it impossible to build new power
plants in California thus worsening the energy crisis.
Also, he made deals behind closed doors with energy
traders when the price of energy was at its height!
Isn't this enough by itself, to recall him?

No lie is too large to stay in power. Dumbocraps could care less where the car is headed, as long as they get to drive.
