Sheriff Joe is indeed an eloquent man.

Kind of ends the discussion, doesn't it? I mean, what can you say in reply?

Dress the imates in MOPP gear. That'll shut them up.

Sheriff is making their time a living hell. Perhaps they will think twice before doing the crime - at least in Maricopa.

I'm sure they have cooler temperatures on order for these prisoners--and for the troops in Iraq, for that matter. It just takes time to get such orders filled.

Camps like this are going to be all over the country before too much longer. 2 million Americans are behind bars, and yet the rest of us are afraid to go out at night. Makes you wonder what we're achieving.

"It feels like you are in a furnace," said James Zanzo't, an inmate who has lived in the tents for 1 1/2 years. "It's inhumane."

Inhumane? Like murder and rape are inhumane?

And make them subsist on MREs.

Amen. There nothing worse than being hot AND constipated.

You got the idea. They should count their blessings that they're not being shot at.

Put one of these "tent city" jails in every county in America, and the crime rate will fall dramatically overnight.

Are the inmates still being fed "green bologna sandwiches"?

(I really liked that idea. Big grin.)

How true! That's the way jail used to be and that's the way it oughta still be.

Watched Cool Hand Luke last ngiht. They should bring back those old chain gang road crews. Prisoners now days have way too many "priviledges" that a lot of law abiding citizens do not have.

"...but it's a dry heat..."

Not any more, it's not. With the huge growth of the Phoenix metro area has come a tremendous growth in irrigated landscaping, and with all the irrigation has come --- HUMIDITY. Not only is it very hot in Phonics, but it can get pretty drippy at times, too.

You want dry heat, try Tuscon to the south. Almost all the landscaping there is desert landscaping and the humiddidity remains quite low.
