UPSURGE OF SYPHILIS IN GERMANY

Berlin (dpa) - Public health officials said Monday the incidence of

syphilis was soaring in Germany, with homosexual men especially

affected by the sexually transmitted disease, which is rampant in

eastern Europe. 

   The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin, the German federal

agency that tracks infectious diseases, said there were 2,275 cases

last year, a rise of 720 compared to 2001, with the highest rates in

the two big cities of Berlin and Hamburg. 

   Officials said the increase was mainly because homosexual men were

taking more risks. Often syphilis was showing up as an accompanying

infection to human immunodeficiency virus, the agent that causes AIDS. 

   ''Condoms do protect against infection, but are often not used in

genital-oral contact where syphilis can be transferred,'' said Ulrich

Marcus, an epidemiologist at the RKI. 

   As of 2002, 85 per cent of the reported cases were among men. The

figures showed no increase among heterosexual patients. 

   Marcus said other European nations had reported increases too. 

   ''There has been a very similar development in Britain,'' he said.

However the rates were still well behind those in eastern Europe. 

   Experts believed Germany was often a first port of call in the

spread of infection from the Balkan nations and the countries of the

Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). 

   The initial symptom of syphilis is a firm ulcer, with nearby lymph

nodes swelling up in the weeks that follow. Six to eight weeks after

infection, about a quarter of patients develop a rash. Damage to the

nerves or brain can appear years later. Syphilis can be cured.

Syph is rampant all over the U.S and Canada. HIV and AIDS is resurging, too. Bisexual men are a woman's worst nightmare. Acey-Ducey increases as the gays seek to enter
the mainstream of society. I predict the will be new statistics out soon showing increases in STD's in junior high school students. Oh, well, nothing to see here. Time to move on. Shut your doors and windows.

They are not taking more risks. Because of the influx of acceptance of this learned behavior by all these do-gooders, they have openned up Pandora's box. The disease was there before the homosexuals, they just got indoctrinated into something people with no morals found out long ago, straight or otherwise. Ask Magic Johnson or Kobe Bryant. Both committed unsafe, immoral, stupidity because they could. They may have gone the opposite direction as per having contracted anything, jury's still out on Bryant, but both have suffered in different ways. If you dance, then you pay the piper.

Understatement! I have watched the media try to protect Bryant in this, and I can't understand why other than the new, accepted dysfunctional lifestyle the media has sold thanks to Clinton. Bryant lied to his wife, his public, and his God. How can you say that's okay unless you have no morals at all? And you can't call something like this premeditated screw-up, a mistake. I would expect that from a 10 year old.
