Perhaps deviant sexuality is a sign of "sickness" of one form or another. Perhaps not always a tumor, but perhaps some other malformation of the brain, or some psychological damage suffered in the past.

Maybe homosexuality can be cured. Maybe they aren't "born that way". Maybe pedophilia and homosexuality are both illegitimate forms of human sexuality which should not be "embraced" or "celebrated" but should, instead, be struggled against, for the good of the patient as well as the good of society.

That's what I believe. The moral component is the tolerance for the behavior AND the judgment the rest of the world feels free to make against the one who suffers. It's rare to be unable to resist the temptation. But it does happen. Have you noticed that so many pedophiles are in late middle age, and had normal if not ideal family lives before?

I think a lot of people who are subjected to constant urges to do what they know to be wrong kill themselves. It never makes sense to other people because they don't know what the person was going through...they probably can't bring themselves to say, "Honey, I've been happily married to you for twenty-five years but I'm finding myself attracted to-- whatever, boys, animals, something they would never have dreamed of doing before.

We are so far from being able to deal with even the grossest brain abnormalities. The subtle ones are still completely escaping us.

I advocate the execution of pedophiles and violent sexual offenders (straight and gay) only to stop recidivism. Judgement is left to God. Should we learn how to cure them, then becoming a sexual deviant is like having seizures while driving: something that needs to be fixed, not something we regard as deliberate or malicious. (Though surely pedophilic urges in a person prone to malice make an already evil person far worse in the scope of his crimes.)

What happens when a good person begins to want evil things because of a physical abnormality?

Something to think about. Truly, there but for the grace of God go the rest of us, and not together, but as alone, isolated, and hated as a soul can be.
